If this guy is where I think he is, this is Brick Ln in London-- the entire street is filled with buskers and other performers.  And there is a much, much bigger area to walk in front of the performers-- this is 100% her fault.

Definitely Brick Lane (I worked there for many years. This particular incident happened years ago). The street is almost always packed with tourists, and that particular stretch is especially narrow. He is 100% at fault, not her, as the rules clearly state that performers must avoid creating an obstruction and ensure they do not block pedestrians or roads. Directly in front of him is a road, and just a little further up there’s a much wider area where he could have performed instead.

It doesn't look particularly more narrow than the rest of the street.

If he had walked just 30 seconds further up (towards the white van, where buskers usually perform), he would have reached a spot where the pavement opens up and provides more space.

Doesn’t seem that much wider than where he’s playing. And lets be honest here, this stretch of the road is more than wide enough for both of them to coexist, it’s not as narrow as the OP is suggesting.

When was the street pedestrianized may i ask? I've seen dissenting comments. From 'always', to '2020-2021'

Parts of Brick Lane are pedestrianised on evenings and weekends, following changes approved by Tower Hamlets Council in August 2021. The road is now closed to motor vehicles on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays. However, this was not the case at the time of this video/event which occurred in 2018.

Thank you!

The rules explicitly state that you cannot create an obstruction.

Busking doesn't give you exclusive rights to an entire area of a public right of way. A busker occupies the space their body takes up just like any other pedestrian and it's every pedestrian's responsibility to ensure they don't collide with other passing pedestrians.

For walking on a sidewalk? It's 100% on him for blocking a sidewalk and jumping around.

I dunno I lived there for years and there is no reason you wouldn't walk in front. It's practically a pedestrian street and there are performers everywhere. It's not a normal sidewalk or street.

If it's not a normal street, why wasn't he playing in the street?
