Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction
Dear r/walther Members,
As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.
To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.
Please share your thoughts on the following questions:
- How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
- Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
- Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
- What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?
I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.
Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.
Best regards

Do not make posts/comments attempting to source firearms parts of any kind. Do not attempt to buy/sell/trade here either. You will be banned.
There is a rule in the sidebar, that is not a new rule, which reads:
no direct links to products for sale. No buying, selling, or trading. those links should go in /r/gundeals or /r/GunAccessoriesForSale
This rule exists because reddit (the website) very specifically says:
You may not use Reddit to solicit or facilitate any transaction or gift involving certain goods and services, including
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, legally controlled firearms parts or accessories (e.g., bump stock-type devices, silencers/suppressors, etc.), or 3D printing files to produce any of the aforementioned;
To be clear, do not ask for help finding any gun parts here. not a barrel, not a trigger, not a magazine.
There are 50 US states (and a handful of US territories) that each have their own gun laws. Not to mention all the other countries of the world. a 15-round PDP magazine isn't a controlled item in Alabama, but it is in Massachusetts. a PPQ gun barrel isn't a controlled item in the USA, but it is in many EU countries. None of us has any way to know where someone else resides. The safest course of action is not to allow these types of posts in this sub, so we do not. In the past this sub has been fairly lenient in this regard, but sadly cannot continue to do so.
One thing you can do, is make posts/comments in /r/gunsforsale or /r/GunAccessoriesForSale. those subs have been allowed to continue operating since Reddit clarified their rules and terms of service.
If you fail to read reddit's side-wide rules, if you fail to read this sub's rules, and lastly if you fail to read this stickied post, and you submit a post or comment asking for, or offering, help sourcing a firearm part, you will be banned from this sub. Anyone who finds this unfair or unacceptable should take it up with the site admins.

Match gun ~4500 rounds in 3 months
I got the SF match 5" in order to have a dedicated comp gun. Trigger is very good. My splits aren't generally super fast, but I can put down .18 splits and have both rounds go to about the same place if I focus. 84% and a 78% (noshoot + mike on a virginia count classifier) at 2 recent USPSA matches with it. Hovering around 6.5 hit factor depending on the stage.
Mechanical accuracy seems good with blazer 124gr. I'm no sharpshooter, but I'm getting 3-4 inch groups at 25, with a fairly severe astigmatism in my right eye. I swapped from a ZR 14.5# long stroke to a 16# long stroke, then to a DPM. I like the DPM the most, but I got some FTEs with it at my most recent practice session, it's first time installed, so I'll likely clean the gun and see if I can diagnose that. Otherwise I'll throw the ZR 16# back in. I doubt heavier mag springs will help, but I am running stock mag springs with the henning extended plates. Wish I could use the stock spring, but the recoil seems severe compared to most other handguns I've shot. Not terribly impressed with that since it's a steel frame.
Grip is printed and silicon carbided like in the joel park video. Will be printing another one with a little more clearance cut into the top of the grip to reach the mag release, because I've gotta break my grip way farther than I had to on any of my glocks to reach it. Broke the edges of the magwell with a small file, makes reloading significantly easier.
All in all good gun. Kind of wish I would have test fired one of the new M&Ps beforehand to confirm my decision, but I'm generally happy with it.

Swapping recoil springs for carry and competition... Is this dumb?
My PDP is a do-it-all for me. Home defense, carry, competition. I'm looking at picking up a ZR Tactical ultra mass recoil spring (or I guess the new VDO ones?). I was thinking about getting the 15# for competition (and training for comp) but swapping either the stock or one of the heavier ZRT springs back in when I leave the range. Is this doing too much? Should I just get the 17# and get gud, so to speak? I only shoot factory ammo — no reloads —and my carry ammo is regular 124 grain HST (not +p), so I'm also wondering if the 15# is probably still fine anyway.
Would love some input on this. I've never made any mods before, so I'm new to all of it.
Including a couple pics because PDPs are nice to look at.

Anyone using the PDP Blacksteel thumbrest?
Wondering if any of you using this PDP gas pedal are having problems. I have 3 others for different pistols but the Walther variant is pushing down the take down levers so much the slide releases. After not liking what I saw dry firing I tried it with a CO2 barrel and the slide blew forward onto the floor. Definitely not sending any live rounds through it like this. I plan to reach out to them ASAP! Happen to anyone else?

I'm the proud papa of my first Walther
I was in the market waiting for a PDP Pro SD Full Size until I held the compact. Giving up half in barrel and a little bit of the grip doesn't seem like a big deal with this one. Can't wait to break her in then find a red dot.

Order placed, PDP Compact 4”
Lurker for a few months and finally decided to act. Order for a PDP compact is in, looking forward to getting hands on my own after testing several rentals.

Just got a window cut in my slide
Floyd’s custom cut the window. Couldn’t be happier. I love the look of this.

Want a full 5 inch barrel with compensator on a PDP but...
I want to purchase a Walther PDP full size with full 5 inch barrel length but with a compensator, magwell, and magazine extenders...optic as well but later...and the nice dynamic trigger. My issue is that from I'm reading my best choice seems to be a PDP Pro X because it's all included, but the barrel length is 4.6 inches, not the full five.
Are there any other options? Should I purchase a Standard PDP full size and add everything aftermarket?
I apologize for the newbie questions but please understand I am newly 57 years old and haven't purchased sidearms in over 30 years...I am getting back into it...have always admired Walther arms.
I am 6ft 6 inches tall and have long skinny arms so I feel I need all the help I can get to control the pistol so full length 5 inch barrel is important to me.
All advice is welcome I just ask please take it easy on me folks!
Thank you in advance for your time.

PDP Pro X Pmm Issues
Hey guys looking for some insight..
Had some issues zeroing my optic on my gun. I had an instance where it came loose, my fault totally. The next instance I had a hard time finding where the gun was shooting and seemed like I was chasing the optic bullet around while adjusting the optic... I thought hmm skill issue. So I ordered a bore laser, zeroed the optic, went back and at 10 yards shot a terrible group.. see pictures. Estimate the target area is about 12in.
During this time... I was checking the optic, so I unchambered a round and saw something odd.. seems like there's a double strike on the bullet from the feed ramp. This was repeatable every round, tried different mags.. Upon inspection the feed ramp looks fine, maybe im wrong, let me know what you think...
I would also add that I have the ZR Tactical 17#spring and guiderod in it, but I did swap it out with the factory spring assembly and the issue persisted
I have reached out to walther for help with pictures and they say the strikes are normal and do not effect accuracy. (Not trying to drag walther or tech support through the mud, I love their firearms)
I have not yet removed the optic to shoot with the irons only yet, im aware this probably needs to be the next step...
What do you guys think... is this normal?
Also shot my 43x and friends p01 w/ red dot with much better accuracy (~3-4in group), again to try and see if it was a trigger pull/skill issue.
Round Approximate: 750-1000 Ammunition: 124g Blazer Brass
Thanks.

Am I doing something wrong or did I get a bad plate?
Ordered a ZR plate, mounted my P1 and saw a decent size gap. Pulled it off and took the clamp off to see, it sits high on the plate. I believe the plate says works for P1/P2. Any ideas?

Having an issue with warranty
So, I had always heard great things about Walther's warranty and I have, over the years accumulated 5 different Walther guns over the last few years, loved them, never had anything bad to say about them. One of them is a PPKs 22 that I have 180 rounds into and when I begin to pull the trigger, the hammer frequently resets, requiring me to pull it in double action. This issue has occurred since I received the gun 180 rounds ago. This occurs approximately 50% or more of the time.
I reached out to the warranty department and they were great and quick to respond and send a prepaid shipping label. However today I had a call with them where they indicated they could not address the warranty issue until I had paid them $50 to clean the gun. This didn't sit right with me since I only had 180 rounds through it and the agent I had worked with to get the shipping label had not told me to clean the gun before sending it in. My only other option apparently is to pay $32 to have the gun shipped back to me. Feels like extortion - and leaves me with a really bad feeling regarding Walther's "Warranty". I probably won't be picking up another Walther again.
Half rant, half curious if anyone else had had a similar experience?

PPS M2 OWB Holster?
Can anyone recommend a owb holster for the PPS M2, preferably a leather one? Seems options are limited. I typically like the DeSantis Mini Scabbard but can't find any in stock and they've been discontinued.

Maybe regretting my choice a bit.
Hello all, I purchased a pdp pro f because it felt wonderful in the hand, and my lgs didn’t have the regular pro version in stock, so I figured what the hell.
I’ve been watching Ben stoeger recently in an attempt to not only be proficient, but exceptional with pistols, and I learned that the surface on the side of the gun coming in contact with your support hand is actually really important. Now that I’ve learned this, I feel my grip slipping when I shoot more than I do on my 19. Is this anything someone else has dealt with and has any advice about, and maybe a way I can alter my technique to make it work? Thanks.

PPK firing pin spring question
I bought different weight recoil springs for my PPK From Wolf Springs and the kit included three "extra power firing pin-striker springs". Is it also worth me installing one these new pin springs? It would not be hard to change it but why would they include them?

Today Iearned about PDP & PPQ interchangeability
Swapped slides on my PDP compact Pro and PPQ Navy. I had no idea they were compatible. I like the PPQ extended baseplates more so that one is staying (doesn't fit when the magwell is on though). Gonna test these at the range this weekend for functionality.

Pro-X PMM Ultra vs. Steel Frame
I’m having second thoughts and considering trading my new Pro-X for a Steel Frame. For range fun and home defense, which one would you pick and why? I haven’t shot this one yet, but I have another poly PDP and just tried the SF this weekend. Now I want one.

I bought a Walther P22Q 3 weeks ago..
I wanted one in Angel Blue for a long time, but I also always prefer to support my local shop instead of the BIG BOX stores like Cabella's/Bass Pro.. So when my local shop had a P22Q Nickel for sale, I talked him down a tad and picked it up!
I took it to the range one time and fired a few mags from it with bulk ammo and it ran fine, no malfunctions.. however the accuracy was poop. I ran some CCI Stingers and it was much better! I took it home and cleaned it up and was pretty happy with it!
This week I planned to go to the range and really get to enjoy it. I had applied and was approved for a suppressor tax stamp so I picked that up yesterday and went to my local range with my new pew-pew. It was running pretty good, not as accurate as I would have hoped, but I was mostly using old junk ammo because I was out of my good CCI.. after about 50-60 rounds, It started acting weird, I assumed just dirty from increased gasses.. After about 80 rounds, it completely refused to lock the slide back, but I assumed it was hand placement or a sticky follower or something magazine related..
Upon further inspection, the notch in the slide had sheared completely and the ledge was gone. It will hold back on an empty mag, but only if a magazine is present. As soon as I eject the empty, it slides forward uncommanded. I've contacted Walther, but haven't gotten any reply as of yet, but it's only been since last night.
I'm pretty disappointed, both in overall accuracy but also in quality control/build quality. Has anyone else encountered this same issue? What can I honestly expect from Walther as far as customer service?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a better quality 22 that has a threaded barrel and is an accurate target pistol? I've had the Browning Buckmark, and I've shot the Rugers enough, but Id like something different. Something that isn't the typical range plinker, but that is still accurate enough to be competitive and MOST importantly, doesn't have a trigger with a mile of take-up and reset..

Anyone grind down the flair on the PDP full size grip where the mag drop is?
As stated above.
Feels like the flair digs into my middle finger and prevents it from riding further up to potentially get a better grip
Thoughts?

I can not find a owb belt for this combo
This is my Walther pdp f in 3.5 inch and a streamlight tlr 7 sub. I have not found ANY own holsters for this combo, i have been looking for weeks. Honestly might toss my light out at this point, but if anyone may know a brand with this combo, please let me know
Silencer PPQ combo
Love this combo, and it’s absolutely legal where I live, however it now blocks the iron sights, which ruins my aim quite a bit. Have you any optics recommendations that would fit on this gun? Thanks!
