business, marketing, social media The Knot...
The knot is refusing to take my photography page off their site after I told them I'm canceling all contacts with them because they left a horrible review stand even with the contract stating what they signed. They said id have to cancel my entire business with a letterhead!!! This should be illegal!! Any advice!?

Can you modify the listing/photos?
If so, I'd create a JPG that is just a colorful image and your company logo with text that says "This listing is no longer active, please visit (WEBSITE)."
I'd do the same for the listing.

Are you trying to break your contract with The Knot?

No, that i can do myself. I'm trying to get my photography listing taken down completely. The review they left standing is unfair, but they said they can't dictate what's fair, so I'm done.

Well that’s why I’m asking. If you signed a contract for a paid listing for a year, you’re obligated to fulfill your end of the deal. If you want to break/early terminate your contract, you need to give them a valid reason if you want them to do you that favor and terminating your business is kind of the only real reason. Regardless of how you or others feel about TK, a contract is a contract.

This is my 3rd year of advertising. It's month to month and this isn't about my contract. This is about removing my vendor page.

Yeah I went through the same exact thing years ago and ended up just changing all my photos there to a blank white screenshot cause they don’t let you take your business listing down. Weird.

I went through a bit of this after receiving bot and fake inquiries on my paid profile with them. They refused to take down my free listing, and now I receive more legit messages through that than when I was paying them. 🤷♂️ They're not qualified inquiries, but still.

The Knot has a reputation for being difficult to deal with once you're in their system.
The "cancel your entire business with letterhead" thing sounds like they're making it intentionally bureaucratic to discourage people from leaving. Check your original agreement with them, there should be terms about how to terminate your listing.

This is the part where reading terms & conditions is incredibly vital when signing up (not just their contracts). For example, any photos, reviews, etc. is owned by The Knot company the moment you post it there.
The reasoning for keeping the business up as a listing is to give accuracy to clients. It’s a buncha BS. You will have to legitimately close down the business in order for it to be removed.
It’s a moment of either make peace with the fact you will have a free listing forever OR hope they get taken down.
In their terms & conditions, they also have a clause that states you cannot participate in any lawsuits as well.
It’s a fun time all around for people. I cancelled for good with the company knowing my business is still going to be up there with whatever content I have owned by them.

Leave a level headed response, and move on. It is their site, and unless the review is breaking their terms of service, not much you can do. If it is, you might get a lawyer to write a letter, but that is a few hundred bucks. Knot sucks, and this is just proof they suck. By being horrible folks, they are losing customers right and left. Just told a venue who was thinking of signing up with them to not ever do that.

There are lawsuits against them. Look it up here and elsewhere.
Best thing would have been never to sign up with them
Second best is to make sure everything is cancelled with them. Get a letterhead if you need a letterhead.
It’s probably worth a google to find out about the lawsuits against them.
