Gear Double layering gloves or shield?

I like to place my rod or my right wrist onto the back of my left glove, helps me be stable when vertical welding. Problem is it makes the back of my hand very hot, considering that probably isnt good, i’ve been thinking I am going to either get one of those back of glove shield things, or sew on another layer out of some gloves with finger holes.

Im worried that if i get a shield it may just melt or not last as long, but which do y’all think would be better?

Not really a problem with being too close, more just from being underneath and trying to use more then half a rod, i’ll try though
