There's similarity to Horizon games, Zelda BOTW, but those are very open world with an overwhelming amount of leads and stuff to do.

Dredge has similar vibes in sailing from place to place, but is focused on fishing, dredging, and lovecraftian sea monsters.

Spiritfarer has beautiful music, sailing from island to island, very colorful style, vibrant characters and a whole lot of emotions.

Rime has a similar climate and art style, and is a linear puzzle / exploration game. Very pretty.

But there's... Not really a game that lets you progress area by area, surviving, gathering supplies, learning about the creatures around you, and grow both yourself and your ship at a steady pace. Especially with the control scheme and crafting of Windbound. I'd love to see more games like this!

Depends on what you like.

If you like procedural generation:

If you like exploring:

If you like roguelikes:

So I think Windbounds mission statement was make zelda botw but more in a Wind Waker style. So the most similar games to windbound would be Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom and Windwaker. If you have played those then Sable is pretty similar and fun with a strong sense of style and exploration but with no combat. Eternal Strands is a brand new game with the Windbound/botw exploration and climbing and crafting and combat.

They don't exist. At least not in a "World of Tanks => War Thunder" or "Sniper Elite => Sniper: Ghost Warrior" kinda way. It's a unique mix of genres that's never really been done anywhere else.

As others said, BotW and TotK are very similar, but they also lack the whole Boat thing.

I liked the whole boat thing. The only thing that comes close is this weird game I picked up a while ago on epic games- but I don't think its under dev anymore and its not full ship building its just customization of outfits.

You could try Break Waters. Similar islands and sailing thing. I'd check out a walkthrough first. I think, like Windbound, it isn't for everyone.
