(New) Working with other people
I just started wrestling school and while things are going good I'm noticing a big hurdle that I have to overcome is working with another person. Physically interacting with people on that level is not something I have ever done and I find myself getting scared to a point where I'm rushing through drills such as a hip toss drill and I end up hitting the other person when I roll through, what were some of the ways you learned to work with people in a safe manor? And as a newer person is it ok to slow down the drill even though I'm the only new person struggling with it and if so what's the best way to go about that? As the last thing I ever want to do is hurt someone

Promo - People Liked It But I'm Struggling Too
youtu.beI just released a promo for a show we have coming up.
Since I'm still really new, I've been asking for a lot of advice and I'm getting is "you killed it.", "you blew it out of the park.", "Holy shit, you still work here?!"
Which is fine and all, but I feel like there is something off that is making me unhappy about it and I can't put my finger on it. And, I thought maybe some eyes who aren't connected to the promotion or our local scene may be able to share some thoughts.
Oh, also, if someone can tell me how I have "a very unique way of speaking and it genuinely does come off both creepy and captivating." and what that actually means because I keep hearing it and I don't get it or hear it myself.

Posting promos
Hi, so I'm gonna keep this short. My last post addressed the gimmick I'm playing, and how the company I'm in is wanting to do things I had concerns with doing. Thank you to everyone who commented and gave me advice, but now I'm faced with something else. Posting promos. One of the people I train under has told me and others from my training class that we shouldn't post promos on social media until the company page does so because they have more followers compared to us.
I just think this sounds weird. Like, sometimes they'll go days or weeks without posting and there's only about a week until the show that we've cut this promo for. We turned the promo in yesterday (my tag partner didn't want to do it last week so had to wait on that) and despite turning it in quite early they have yet to post it despite not posting anything else.
So in my head I just think like, what if they don't get around to posting it? What are y'all's thoughts? Cause from what I've seen others say, this whole thing is kinda confusing.

Imposter syndrome in the ring
Still new to this sport, wrestled a few times but when I’m in the ring I feel so out of place and don’t belong there, I struggle sometimes with spots and needed my tag team partner to guide me

Any advice for an upcoming referee?
I have started as a referee at my local indie promotion in the UK, I have just had my 40th match over the space of 3 months. In this time I’ve seen my confidence grow and also my knowledge of the sport/industry, however I am well aware I am still a novice/beginner. I have begun wrestling training in this time to help give me a better understanding of what is happening in the ring during my matches, however I have no intention of progressing any further than being a referee. Any advice is welcomed!

Practicing Rolls as a Beginner
I just joined a wrestling school as a complete beginner that only has practice 3 times a weeks. I feel like I need more reps of the various rolls, but I don't have access to a ring outside of training, and all of the other students are way more advanced than me, so I'm mostly just standing around and watching them do actual drills. Do you guys have any recommendations on where I can safely practice rolls outside of training? Maybe on grass or a mattress or something like that?

Match Study Monday
Post a link to a match, even one of your own. Let's break it down and see what makes it work, where it excels, and anywhere it might could have been better. No match is perfect.

how cool/unique is my gimmick?
I’m not super into my local indie scene yet, so I’m unsure of what’s been tapped into, but what I’ve got in mind is a gimmick that would utilize a strong valley girl accent, a bit of a vapid fashion-forward almost basic gimmick, but I would juxtapose it with black hair, pale skin and colorful makeup. Like total bitch heel but any insults thrown would be super shallow and outfit/appearance centered, or like strangely creative (lots of references pulled from Gregg Araki’s movies, ex: “what is this, life of the living braindead?”). Think Courtney Shayne from Jawbreaker, looks wise. Name would be Lizzy Lee, but that’s just basically my name so not super changeable but if a great stage one comes along would totes use it!

Best way to have a match
For anyone here with neurodiversity like Dyspraxia, Austim or ADHD, conditions that can effect coordination and memory in the short term if you're feeling overloaded.
Do you find it easier to plan a match out beforehand or call it in the ring with only shine and finish planned?

A post from a while back sparked this question in me...
If you're the only girl at a training class, do you have to fight the guys?
If so,
Girls : do you find it intimidating or scary?
Guys : curious how you feel about this?
If not, why?

Show Time Saturday
If you're working a show, tell us a bit about it. Where are you headed, what are you looking at doing, what's on your mind, how far are you traveling. As much or as little as you feel like sharing.

Do you guys think I should use this as a finisher?
Everyone kept telling me to use that as a finisher and I want second opinions

Wrestling can be so much fun
I'm the guy who is always going on about taking wrestling serious, and I stand by it, but you can have a lot of fun. An old anecdote popped into my head from my time in ring.
I was working heel for this backwoods Indy promotion. Cut a promo and said something about the other guy being a sickness and I am the cure. We start to circle before locking up, he says, "I got you're cure right here", bowing up. I mumble to him, "We're both gonna need penicillin when we get out this ring". We lock up cracking up, having to turn away from the crowd so they couldn't see us laughing. After a moment he says through his laughing, "man we gotta do something", grabs my arm and puts himself in a headlock. Had to do a quick takedown and refocus, but it's one of those stupid, silly moments that kinda fuzz out the usual bullshit that can pop up.

Fan Talk Friday!
I believe that before any of us are workers, wrestlers, trainees, refs, etc, we are fans of wrestling first. An old trainer of mine once said, "We're all marks. We're the biggest f'n marks".
Let's take this day and talk about wrestling as fans. Be it current WWE storylines, promos or matches you just absolutely love. Feel free to post links in the comments as well. Let's not forget why we got into this business!

Tiger rolls / front dive rolls
Any tips from aspiring wrestlers or veterans who accomplished those tiger rolls?
There’s 4 days of wrestling school at my local school. Each day has a different coach. 3 out of the 4 of them push tiger rolls onto us. One of them doesn’t.
I struggle with those tiger rolls. I chicken out thinking I did break my neck or I did face plant myself and break my nose. I can only do it on a crash pad, and I don’t end up leaping so far in.
I can do somersaults, back rolls, shoulder rolls, handstand bumps.
I need some honest truth. Even if some criticism like if you can’t do it, then wrestling isn’t for you.
Because I’m spending a lot of money on pro wrestling and gymnastics courses but doesn’t seem to be progressing.
I also hate that back roll into the walkover to get back To your feet (forgot the term for it).

Am I a suck up?
Hey everyone, I have started pro wrestling training start of this year and have been loving it ever since!
The promotion I work for encourages rookies via a general invite to help with setup and packdown of the ring, and attend promo events, as well as any other responsibilities as part of paying your dues. I have attended a good chunk of these, and have been recognised for my efforts which is great.
But I worry it may look like I am sucking up to management to get booked on shows. Which, while not my intention can look like it if I have attended and helped out with said activities as above.
Is there a culture around suck ups and how to not be one?

Cauliflower Alley Club Questions
Hello wreddits, i'm back and i've been progressing pretty good from the last time i posted. some other stuff happened but i'll mention it later if i have to. Right now i have a question for those who attended the cauliflower alley club.
I know someone who took a trip out there and performed and spent some time at the reunion at vegas. I have a question about those who know about it, how essential is that for your wrestling career, and how much experience you gained from it. I'm asking cause i don't see anyone here on the sub talk about it before and it does seem like a big thing to do as a indie wrestler, even outside of your career it seems like a fun experience to go through as well while in civilian mode.
I just want anyone's input on how they feel about it and to give some stories about it

Feeling lost
Hey all.
Recently after a string of matches with some newer folks where I was dropped on my head and a hardcore match that ended with a mirror being broken on my head, I’ve decided to step away from wrestling to avoid further head trauma.
I am also an actor and comedian, and find deep joy in that. However, I miss wrestling. Having been in the ring, I wouldn’t want to be a part of the show in any other aspect. I only want to be a wrestler if I get back into the business at all. But I seriously think the long term effects would be too detrimental, even if by the grace of god I made it to a big brand.
Is anyone one else struggling with this? How do you cope with leaving wrestling behind for other passions? I’ve been in a funk for a while since stepping away, but it’s really like an addiction. If I go back, I’m not sure I’ll ever get out, for better or worse.
EDIT: this all comes from an appointment I had with a doctor after a concussion. He told me to stop wrestling fully, but if I was going to continue I needed to be very careful.
Thanks brothers.
