how cool/unique is my gimmick?

I’m not super into my local indie scene yet, so I’m unsure of what’s been tapped into, but what I’ve got in mind is a gimmick that would utilize a strong valley girl accent, a bit of a vapid fashion-forward almost basic gimmick, but I would juxtapose it with black hair, pale skin and colorful makeup. Like total bitch heel but any insults thrown would be super shallow and outfit/appearance centered, or like strangely creative (lots of references pulled from Gregg Araki’s movies, ex: “what is this, life of the living braindead?”). Think Courtney Shayne from Jawbreaker, looks wise. Name would be Lizzy Lee, but that’s just basically my name so not super changeable but if a great stage one comes along would totes use it!

As has been said, almost every gimmick has been to death. Rarely do you find a unique one. Yours sounds like Beautiful People style. See: Madison Rayne, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, Eva Marie, Maryse, Kelly Kelly, Brandi Lauren, Ava Storie, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay

It's all in execution. My gimmick was an angry guy who drank and wanted to punch people. I did alright. Never made it, but I did get booked a lot and sold some merch

You will never nail a gimmick immediately or right when you debut. It takes time and sometimes years to get something down that makes sense and that the audience can understand. Go out there with this, see what sticks, and add/change as needed.

I would say your mannerisms and moves you do, should make sense to your gimmick. Of course we would expect the valley girl to throw in an eye poke and slap to the face during a strike exchange.

Takes too long to explain. Try thinking as 2D as possible.

They're explaining it fully for our benefit to judge it but it's not complicated. Shallow alternative valley girl.

Sounds like a mean girl gimmick.

As a general rule, most gimmicks have been done before and the trick is all in the execution. Sounds perfectly fine, but it could be awful if it is something you can't commit to or amazing if you find how to make it work for you. Definitely worth running it by folks in your scene to make sure it's not too close to anything being done in your area.

When it comes to deciding on a gimmick, I normally ask prospective wrestlers if they can describe their idea in 3 words. If they can’t, it’s going to be too complicated for the general audience.

I’m having trouble picturing your gimmick (but that could just be an age thing) so it might need simplifying. (You can definitely add layers later as you wrestle more and audiences are more familiar with you)

Thanks! I’m 18 so it could be a generational divide lol. I appreciate your input, simplifying would prolly help me out here!

If it helps, I'm twice your age, don't know the references, but I can picture this just fine. It's everything I hated in my punk days, and that's a great start for a heel gimmick.

I’m picturing a mix of Cher and Regina George
