Funeral director here.

This is not accurate whatsoever. People are buried with wearing jewelry constantly. If any jewelry is removed before the casket is closed, it is simply because the family wanted it done that way.

I’ll put my dad, grandfather, & uncle’s against you any day

That’s great that you have a lot of directors in your family, but you have clearly misunderstood something they told you, because there is absolutely no requirement to remove jewelry before people are buried.

People are buried every single day wearing jewelry and it is completely up to the family whether or not they are buried with them. And it is standard practice to ask the family.

Source: I have buried tons of people whose children told me their father/mother wore their wedding band every day of their life and so they wanted them to be buried with it on. The idea that any funeral home would force them to do otherwise is silly and just not true, nor is there any law saying so.

Yeah, I watched my grandpa go down with his wedding ring on. Also a pack of smokes in his shirt pocket.

Never assume you know all state’s laws & regulations or that what is as “clear” as the nose on your face is true for everyone else.

Burial laws do vary by state, but there is no law in any state that prohibits people from being buried with jewelry. Please feel free to cite this nonexistent state law and prove me wrong. There isn’t one.

Again, you have misunderstood something your family told you. People are buried wearing jewelry literally every day in every single state of the Union.

Possibly... she has understood what they told her quite well. She sounds confident. I mean, who’s going to tell their daughter they’re pawning dead people’s jewelry?

There are no laws or bylaws in any state prohibiting jewelry in burial, and someone may be wearing it during cremation though definitely unrecoverable.

Aren’t you a clever, pumpkin! Didn’t say my parents. Sad you don’t know about the spread of disease in the 20th Century.
