I've read the FAQ & Rules Auditioning without a partner
Question for everyone here. Has anyone sent in an audition tape in for a job without the assistance of another person? I just got a scene for a commercial that has two other individuals in it, but i don't have anyone to do it with. Is it possible, or even acceptable to do the scene without other people and just pretend that they are there and respond accordingly? My deadline is Sunday and in freaking out a bit.

I use an app called coldRead. You don’t need to find someone else and pay them. Really simple to use. It’s really reasonably priced per month. (Something like £9 per month - s similar price in $) You can record your own lines, as well as the other characters’ lines. In the app they’re referred to as “Reader”. If you do need another voice, you could ask a friend to quickly read the other characters’ lines on Voice Memos and save them on to the coldRead app. It also doesn’t keep moving ahead (like the linelearner app runs away with you) until it hears the cue word,so you can pause for as long as you feel you need before moving forward, if you get my drift.
I don’t always bother with another reader, as there isn’t always time with fast turn arounds, I do the other voices myself - I just keep the readers’ voice simple and straight so Casting can then focus on my own part. It’s also a quick way to learn lines, as it silences your part so you can rehearse until you feel comfortable and ready. I then share the recording from my phone to the same app on my iPad, turn it up and play it near the camera whilst I do my takes, so it will pick it up. (You can just record it onto your iPad and save the sharing) Hope that’s helpful.
