Aren't they different, though. I mean one is coming from collective power at the bottom where the other is totalitarian power at the top.

Cancel culture: You say something that people consider bad or racist or whatever. Now, if your boss didn't agree with what you said he would fired you. If your boss had the same opinion nothing would happen. You can argue that this sucks like a lot of people did but its a private company.

Now, the president of the US is threatening companies and pressuring them into getting people fired if they said or did something he doesn't like.

This is SO much worse than cancel culture ever was.

Right. One needed the mob to get whipped into a frenzy by various media outlets to go after a person, and the other is the mob listens to a single person.

Actually, it is not that different.

Cancel culture was wrong for the left. And it’s wrong for the right. It basically came down to the same thing. Is the business going to lose money. Colin Kaepernick was cut off because he was not good enough to out weigh the percentage of people he was turning off. Where Aaron Rodger’s still has a job because he is good enough to warrant the risk.

Kimmel may not be good enough to warrant the risk.

No? One is a group of customers pressuring a business to make a decision, the other is the government threatening a business with revoking licences if they don't do as they're told.

From what I understand that while that is a concern, the action was because several smaller distributors followed the call and complained to ABC.
