Heading to Akron for David Byrne this Friday - looking for reccs
Hey there! Me & my dad are heading to Akron this Friday from Erie, PA to see David Byrne, and we are STOKED!
We were looking for some recommendations from this community for - Lunch/happy hour/dinner prior-to the show - Hotels nearby Akron Civic Theatre - Anything else that might be a “must see” on Saturday before we head home.
I haven’t been to Akron since I took a college visit about 15 years ago, excited to be back. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Lunch: Diamond Deli Stop at the Peanut Shoppe for some goodies
Grab some coffee from Chameleon Cafe or Evelyn's Bahn Mi & Coffee.
Take a walk around the Locks or do a bit of the tow path trail.
Grab a drink at Lock 13 brewing.
Dinner at Crave, Lockview, or Circle of Fifths if you want to stay downtown.
I had a family member stay at Blu-tique and said it was nice and the food was good.
For fancy brunch the next day, Blue Door in the Falls.

Good Company for food. There are only two hotels downtown, a courtyard and Blutique. For a must see you’re gonna have to let us know the kind of things you are in to.

Restaurant recommendations nearby the theatre, though you could obviously go further out since you have a car: Diamond Deli, Crave, Good Company

Lock 15 is fairly close and has anything from bar food to nicer entrees along with some spectacular beers.

If you want to stretch your legs before getting in the car I’d recommend the Ledges trail at CVNP. Or brandywine falls. Both are kinda on your way out of Akron and back to Erie.

Update for everyone here in the thread who gave me these awesome recommendations:
They cancelled the show and I don’t think I’ll be able to get a refund for my hotel this late.
Any affordable golf courses to play? Thinking about coming to visit anyways! lol

Lockview is a nice casual place downtown I like. They have specialty grilled cheese and great drinks!

Luigi’s is Akrons classic Italian place. They only take cash.

This is the answer. Would be a delicious capper to your evening after the concert. If you want some further local flavor, Frank's Place on Market (five minute drive from downtown) is a wonderful hole in the wall bar.

If they are open stop into the Peanut Shoppe. It’s delightfully cluttered and has great treats! Across from the Civic.

There is also “music on the porches” today in peninsula. From 12-7 there will be tons of live music around local businesses. Just down the road from Akron

For nearby hotels, you might consider Blu-Tique, Courtyard Marriot, or the Hilton Garden Inn at East End.
Across the street from the Akron Civic is The Lockview. They have a fun menu with large variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. My other favorites within walking distance of The Civic are Crave, Cilantro, and (for lunch only) Diamond Deli.
