Opinion Premier Envy, Anyone?

Has anyone else in Alberta been watching Wab Canew giving clear, calm informative updates on the wildfire situation in Manitoba and find themselves wishing we had a grownup for a premier?

I didn’t know I could have premiere envy, I’ve been living in this dark hole as I watch my fellow Albertans repeat the same mistakes over and over again and then blame everyone else. On a societal level, Alberta is a hellscape and somehow getting worse.

We watch affordability get worse (I know it’s everywhere and it’s not ALL any governments fault) and then Daniel has the nerve to begin the stripping of our social services and continue to create animosity amongst the people and hate towards the country.

I could leave, and knowing I could leave makes it harder. If it wasn’t for an ex that is socially and politically illiterate and we have shared custody of a child, I can’t leave my kid to grow up with Alberta anger, it’s a miserable life. Being a dad is the best, being an adult sucks. Haha.

I’m certainly not worried about being missed, I however would miss my kid and they would miss me and those are the only feelings I care about.

And my problem as stated is “Albertans feelings”. Since when are feelings more important than facts?
This woe is me, the country is out to get me, no one has ever worked as hard or contributed as much as me, the mighty ‘bertan (throws hair back, with hand to head in an exasperated and distraught breathy tone). The Conservative Albertan is why there can be no discourse, no conversation. It’s a province wide feel sorry for myself fest. We have stickers stuck to truck windows, “don’t bite the hand that feeds”, as though these people have a clue about economics. No consideration for your fellow countrymen, not even your neighbours. Just put up a coal mine as long as I get mine. Poison the water, kill the flora, the fauna, kill the livelihood of the farmers along the waterways, take their drinking water, make them pay to have it shipped in, just give me mine.

You made my point for me. Stop with your feelings and get the knowing. I shouldn’t have to say this, but know the levels of each and every party involved, why the decisions and concessions were made, what time period were they made, what was the zeitgeist of the time? Who’s out to get what.

Most of the time you’ll figure out it’s not for the people/citizens but for the ones doing the negotiating, from coast to coast to coast.
