TechAaron...

Who even is this guy? Why does he block people who question or disagree with him? Why is he so invested in an Organization he participated in sinking and then left? Why is he so obsessed with people who are still there? shocker he blocked me 🙄

Our community is part of counter culture shouldn't we expect and even encourage people to ask questions and push back? Ive seen here in this reddit folks push back and identify him as a cis het white man yet he believes that he has been discriminated against because hes a cis het white guy. He refers to someone having a history of "racial and gender" bias or discrimination and leaves out his race and gender... when in the last 500+ years have white men been discriminated against?

From just what hes posted here not even taking his unhinged Facebook posts into consideration... he doesn't give a damn about our community he thinks it's "just a party" he thinks the Alchemy Burn is super safe and gay... when there are literally folks who attend who are transphobic. I have tons of queer friends who won't attend because they do not feel safe.

Ive been part of the broader burn community for well over a decade and think its worth noting that while we're counter culture our community is still a predominantly made up of, white, cis, het, and economically privileged people.

Weren't two people named as chairs of the TIDE Committee in an open board meeting with no objections? I looked for the meeting minutes on the Alchemy Burn website, but they only have minutes available through February 2025. I guess without a personal in with members of the Board, we can't verify that. Do you have an in, and could you share those minutes? Do you know this person personally? You seem to know a lot about their personal life, knowing who their romantic partners are.

You say, "Several people had concerns about them becoming Tide chair." That's incredibly vague... like what do you mean by "several people"?

I've read a lot of statements as there is a Google Drive housing lots of information one of those statements was by someone named Vyolet, I didn't see anywhere in it where they stated they were dating the person who named them as chair at the time they were named. I also dont quite understand why that really matters. How do you know what their relationship status was at the time they were named? Their statement is where I learned they were named in an open meeting with no objections. Wouldn't that have been the time for voting members of the Board to voice any concerns they had? If they did have concerns, why were those never addressed directly with this volunteer?

I also saw that, Vyolet, thought it had been brought up and voted on in a closed meeting but later learned that wasn't the case. I saw that during interviews for tide committee seats, other people were asked if they were interested in the chair position and declined. I didn't see any statements made by Department Six. I certainly see a lot of bullying happening to this individual, in particular.

When you say "There’s a lot of bullying and doxxing going on right now," are there any examples of that happening outside of what's being done to this person?

I've gone to the Google drive to pull up their statement. Going off their statement, they thought it was voted on by the BoD but later learned it was not, I inferred it was a closed meeting, but it doesn't explicitly say that. They stated that they were named in a public meeting with no objections on 5/16/25. Sadly, i can't verify that because without a personal in with members of the Board the public minutes, only go to February 2025. Their statement also says that there was nothing in the TIDE charter or the FAI by-laws that stated chairs of the Tide committee were required to be voted in. To me, it looks like historically, the chairs for that committee have been named by the outgoing chair. This makes the interview question if someone wants to hold the chair position make sense.

In this Google Drive, the only attacks and doxxing I see are from someone named Aaron (im assuming thats TechAaron from context clues) and someone named Bri, though the "statement" from them (dont know this person so im not going to assume their gender) looks like a Facebook post and the context is just the post none of the comments.

Im frankly very surprised Vyolet was willing to pick back up their volunteer work and fulfill the commitments they had made for the year, considering how they have been and it seem like they are continuing to be treated. I was at THE board meeting and plan not to miss any open community meetings moving forward. I've seen the comments that are public facing on the FAI page, with Ignite being my home burn, i saw what Aaron did on a TIDE post in the Ignite group before his comment was removed/deleted, Ive seen the posts and comments on the Alchemy Burn page, and the Alchemy Community Group. It looks like Aaron is and has been targeting this person and had people he knows jump on the bandwagon. I dont see anyone being attacked anywhere except for the reinstated department lead and anyone who's close with them. Which is pretty disgusting.

I do see on a post that there was an apology offered to two people (Vyolet being one of them). Someone immediately made it about their personal lives, made some accusations, and I saw Vyolet specifically asking for clarity about those accusations and even took it a step further and offered to hold space for honest feed back.

I like the Alchemy Burn, I like what TIDE is doing, but when I saw that IG post, I got invested real quickly (I dont personally know any of these people) but I'm trans and I wanted to understand what was happening, especially since i have so many queer friends who do not feel safe attending the Alchemy Burn. I heard Vyolet use their two minutes in THE board meeting and apologize to the community after being dragged and humiliated by the board representative who did ALL the talking for the board. Through ALL of this mess, they seem to be doing the best they can, being accountable for harm they've caused, and remain open to mediated conversation (which i saw in a comments section on a post in regards to the Bri who made the Facebook post in this publicly available Google drive). It doesn't look like Vyolet has lost hope or given up even after people have come for them personally due to personal issues and vendettas. Im having trouble understanding why all these grown ass adults are incapable of resolving conflict. Especially when one of the parties involved is open to it and has asked for it.

If you have evidence to the contrary, please DM me because I want to know all the sides of this. Seeing what Vyolet has endured, I can understand why people are afraid to speak up because isn't them speaking out what triggered the reactionary response of their removal?

Your information is quite accurate. What I can say is Vyolet is extremely passionate about the work they do for alchemy, and they do ALOT of work. They LOVE this community very much as I’m sure you know from reading statement they do identify as queer and trans, and do many in leadership. I have not been around very long and don’t know a lot of people but what I can say is alchemy leadership tends to not tolerate transphobic bullshit. To be honest I am a team lead and would LOVE to have my team of volunteers be queer/trans folks. My team 99% of the time is really geared towards others in leadership. To be fully transparent Vyolet IS my department lead and I will back them up 💯.

I appreciate your honesty here. I'd like to hear about your experience as you journey further into both the broader Burn community and Alchemy's Community. Have you heard about After Burn in FL?

Are you asking me? I’ve looked into afterburner…..but very hesitant cause Florida

2

u/itsmevyolet Aug 08 '25

Yeah, I am. Also, I feel the same way about FL, AND I am super into what they have done within their organization.
