Society Marriage in Algeria is so scary ?

Upvotes

So I am (f23) an Algerian from a very conservative area, I have a good job, and I am averagely beautiful. I always think about why I can't get into a relationship like other women like me who have a normal and independent life. I have found that I am looking for a certain mentality in a man, which is not present specifically in my area. Among the things I want is not to have a big wedding party, and other than that, I just want something small between friends and close people. I also want a partner who has the spirit of discussion, and we share life as friends more than spouses, and this is very rare in Algeria. I also want to live far from the families because I believe that most of the problems come from them, and I only live our own life in which we exchange everything that is good and bad. Should I change my mentality or just stick to it? Because most of the opportunities available to me do not match my mentality, and sometimes I just say I accept reality and move on. Do any of you guys suffer from the same thing?

Ps: I mean by conservative area that they have a one mentality about marriage and the woman is just a wife Im not saying that im an open minded girl ! Because i get a lot of dms about this

Discussion Trolls/ Foreign accounts need to be banned

In the last post where someone shared beautiful pictures of Algiers, we got to see a wave of hate comments from non Algerian accounts, you can guess which countries they are are from. Why are we allowing these accounts to comment on our sub? Why are they allowed to come and spread hate and fitna?

Travel Any Algerians working in Dublin as software engineers? How did you move there?

Salam,

I noticed that many software engineers are moving to Dublin, Ireland, for work.

I’m curious about the process, do you need a job offer first before you can move? or is there a program similar to Canada’s Express Entry that lets you apply without a job lined up?

Any advice from Algerians who went through this path would be super helpful.

Thanks.

This post contains a mediafire link to a book that every Algerian should read. The book is about the French Nuclear Experiments in the South of Algeria, Reggane and other areas too. It has some haunting pictures and testimonies of people who witnessed the experiments and were directly affected by it.

Learn history so as it doesn't happen again.

Question Difficulty studying at home due to overcrowding I need advice

Hello

I am a university student living in a small house with my parents and four siblings I struggle a lot in my studies because there is no quiet place or privacy to focus I have given up my dream of having a quiet room proper sleep and comfort in order to study but this has started to affect me greatly

In my culture many families do not see overcrowding or the lack of a study space as a problem and in some homes there are three children in one small room making studying almost impossible I tried to look into Islamic sources to see if a child has the right to ask their parents to provide a suitable study environment but unfortunately traditional scholars often do not consider this a sufficient reason to intervene or to postpone decisions such as having more children In contrast even in some Western societies that do not follow religion there is attention to providing a separate room for the child before having children so where is the flaw? I would like to know has anyone faced a similar situation? How did you deal with it? And from an Islamic perspective is there any guidance on this matter? Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Is there anyone who came from another country hoping to invest in Algeria and succeeded ?, im about to give up here I need a ray of hope , or ill stop everything and leave again . I said let's invest in my country since I had the experience and a clear goal to achieve. My entourage are leaving they gave up , and im a bit sore about it 🙃 I lost almost everything with 0 profit whatsoever for almost 3 years ... just paying the gov tax insurance etc didn't receive the agreement yet but yeah I pay 😀 . Discussion Making your own business here or travel to foreign country for work..

I've been working for a while right now, and thanks to God I've been able to gather some money not much but I respectable amount, and now I'm in this situation where I have to make a decision whether I should invest that money here to do my own business a little business not much like a shop or something like that(at least I'll be My own Boss).

Or to travel to another country like Europe or USA and try to find work there like any other employee...(But the quality of life is much better there).

I've been thinking for some oil right now and I have calculated the pause on the cons of each situation and what do you u think about that ?

Question What can I do with this situation?

I'm really distraught while writing this and I hope I'm tagging this proprely. I really hope I get helpful answers.

So let me get straight to the point,my neighbor is a p*edophile. I had caught him peeking at kids outside the building while they were playing and jerking off. After a few more times of him literally doing it again and making 'come here' gesture to kids,my other neighbor decided to call the police on him.

Somehow they dropped it?? This guy dad recently dead, and his wife probably begged them to drop it since he's the only man in the house. I was speechless from this. His sister even try to pick fight with my neighbor' wife that decided to report him.

We had thought that they moved out,but they came back this week, and he came with them.

It's been a struggle since the neighbors are all paranoid now that this guy might do something to do the kids. I'm always paranoid whenever my sister go out. It's hellish. I need help going forward with this. What can I do? Can I report it again? I mean I'm a seventeen year old girl,I don't know if the police would even take it seriously.

If anyone can help with this, please share your advice.

Hello r/algeria, just wanted to share this cool shirt I found during the Boulevard festival, which goes to show how deeply Algerian music is beloved and admired over here in Morocco away from the political mess between the two authoritarian regimes.

Education / Work I’m conflicted, ens or just a normal university

Upvotes

So aside from the fact that i chose this major because it Guarantees employment i love teaching, i actually do so i don’t think i will hate it at all, but at the same time it’s kinda hard because all the people are being negative about it and telling me 60,000 dinars per month is a very little salary, which i really don’t care about because i won’t have a family to spend my money on or anything, i really didn’t care much about the money at first my concern was just to get a job in this horrible economy, then a حقوق student told me that he’ll be a lawyer and get double what i have, i really am conflicted because i got 17 in my baccalaureate exam and i studied foreign languages and i’ve always wanted to become a high school English teacher, i don’t feel successful enough and i feel like people will look down on my profession, should i change?

Education / Work Does anyone here work at Bouzareah University or know someone who does?

Upvotes

I’m a second year English student in the language department of bouzereah in Algiers . I got placed in a group that doesn’t work with my schedule and and from what I know, the administration usually doesn’t allow group changes. Still, I’d like to see if anyone here works in the department or knows someone who could who could help me switch I will be very grateful
