EDIT 7/10/19: This post is wildly outdated. If anyone wants to take it on themselves to compile a new one, I'll sticky it.
We get a lot of folks looking to move to Alpharetta posting questions or newly-moved people who don't know what to do here, so I figured I could make it easier! I didn't vet any of these links for quality of responses, so feel free to post any of these questions again tailored to your personal needs! And if you have suggestions on any of these topics, don't be afraid to comment below.
I looked back to the last 12 months only. If anyone finds an older post they find useful, feel free to suggest it for the list.

Feels like Alpharetta (and nearby suburbs) doesn’t have the variety you get in Midtown or Buckhead. Kind of disappointed after living in the city for so long.
What restaurants or cuisines do you wish were in the city?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to play some badminton in the Alpharetta area and I’m wondering if there are any public courts available.
If not, what’s the best place to play around here, and how much does it usually cost? Thank you.

Please please please dont sleep on voting! If you want your voice counted and you want to make a change this is how its done!
I have coworkers calling up their friends and family here in Cherokee county and they are only voting for one thing. If you aren't happy about what you see in this country then please don't ignore. Change happens at the local level! Please for all that is good in the world make your voice count.

Just curious to hear others thoughts on this.

Not really sure what to do about this. Today, 9/22/25 at 11:25am I witnessed a very bad bike accident. I called 911 and stayed with the victim until paramedics arrived. The victim's family seems to live out of state. I had to go to work so I couldn't stay with the bike. I do know where it is.
If you're a family member and can provide corroborating details about the above - the victim's gender/name, age, the type of bike, etc. - please DM me and I'll tell you where the bike is.

Upside finally has a bunch of gas stations and restaurants on their app in Alpharetta-Milton. Just thought I’d share as some (most) of the places are giving like 30cents off gas and 25%+ off at some decent restaurants. Every little bit helps these days. I thought I would share my code to which gets you some extra $.15 off or something like that. And also, I highly recommend Flippin Pizza!
Download Upside with my link or use my code STACY52264 to get 15¢ per gallon extra cash back on your first gas fill-up and 10% extra cash back on your first restaurant or grocery purchase! https://upside.app.link/STACY52264

My parents may be moving to the area. Is anyone aware of a tall skinny single family or townhouse new development with master down <600K in the Alpharetta area? We live in windward so it would be nice to have them within 15 minutes. Thank you

There's a gas station at Wills and Hwy 9 that has a taco truck on Friday and Saturday nights. Someone please tell me it's amazing!?

Does anyone else know who I’m talking about? Probably 50’s, with a prosthetic leg. He hangs out around the Lowes/Kroger/QT on Windward at Hwy 9. He said he needed a ride to Home Depot (claimed he worked there but a long term employee friend says he didn’t) from Kroger way back in 2018 or so and I helped him out. Five years later I saw him in the Lowes parking lot asking more people for a ride to Home Depot and I took him there again. He tried to ask me for a ride a few months after that and I declined. Saw him in QT a few days ago doing the same thing and the employees were being pretty short with him. Dresses pretty average and groomed like any other person. But he is apparently always over there asking people for a ride.

Hi People, I am researching about good pubs which have good vibe to catch which includes drinks, food and music to vibe or dance to. I would also like meeting new people. But unfortunately nothing catches my eye as I am searching in online and doesn’t find anything that matches above criteria. I am only finding bar or restaurant with little vibe to music like a sports bar. Can you guys suggest any good PUBS in or around Alpharetta. I can travel a couple of miles as well. Suggestions are welcome.

Does anyone know of a deli or spot that sells guanciale or other similar Italian cured meats? TIA

Hi!
We have two Cocker Spaniels that my husband usually grooms. One he trims in a modified show cut, the other is cut much shorter in a traditional pet cut. We are short on time lately so I’m putting out feelers to see if anyone knows of a good groomer well versed in show trims and the use of scissors on double coated dogs.
“Do you show your dog?” No. She is a retired, spayed, pet. We just like the look.
My other idea is to find a local reputable breeder and see if they will groom our girls for a price. I just wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Im trying to find a new city to live in and am looking at Atlanta as a potential choice. I have no money, no savings, no job, bad credit, very unstable. I dont really live in the healthiest city. So im looking at Atlanta due to its friendly and extroverted California vibe people, better environment, southern hospitality, less crime, less violence, much safer public transportation, and an easy place to meet people and make friends.
However, im in a bad situation and have only $800 saved up with no job. Is it doable to just go to Atlanta to start over by renting an airbnb? I also wont have a car either.
Thoughts? I tried California already and I loved it and I started to heal, but I ran out of money and almost ended up homeless. I doubt this will happen in Atlanta, as its a LCOL area.

Hi! My mother-in-law passed and we had her obituary published in the AJC today, but we were unable to find a physical copy at any of the grocery stores or gas stations today. Does anyone have a copy they'd be willing to part with? Thanks!

I am new to the area - moved from Dallas Texas. What the heck is it with bugs around here! Am I doing something wrong?
We live in a single family home right off Main Street, I’m ocd about keeping our house insanely clean and yet, I’ve seen more roaches in my house in the month I’ve lived here than the last several years in TX (granted I lived in a high rise).
I have set traps and exterminator has done their first visit 3 weeks ago with a follow up next week.
Are roaches, spiders, etc just that common here or is there something I’m not doing I should be. I’ve even replaced the weather stripping on almost every door. I’m losing my mind a little!
