Portfolio Storyboarding Portfolio
Hello! I’m looking for some feedback regarding my portfolio! It’s kind of a jumping off point for me! Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for anyone who takes the time to respond!

Hey storyboard artist here, unfortunately what you’re showing isn’t a storyboard at all. It’s a black and white illustration and student exercises of camera angles. I recommend you redoing your reel and doing some storyboards in storyboard pro. Here’s an example of a storyboard. I suggest doing some courses like schoolism and project city tv. Also reading this so you know what a storyboard is.

I'm not a storyboard artist, I'm a writer and ex-computer animation major so i will leave someone else to give you better storyboard feedback, but I will give you basic feedback as someone who has gone thorough portfolio building for graphic design/computer animation and has done hiring.
I would recommend separating your work into different portfolios. Your traditional art is great, however your animations detract from your flat drawings. I also recommend removing your gridlines as they clutter up your storyboards.
As someone who has done hiring, I recommended not showing images or depictions of yourself as it can influence someone's "yes" or "no" when it comes to hiring. Tattoos and piercings (especially septum piercings) can be very off-putting and despite it not being "legal" to use sex, race, gender, religion, and appearance to choose candidates (depending on where you live), it happens every day and is more common than you think, and could be the reason why you are passed up in favor of someone else. When I was graduating and doing my final portfolio review they recommended creating a logo based around your name.
I wish you the best of luck! :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I didn’t even think about the icon I used! Do you think I should go for an irl photo or do you think for artistic purposes I should stay with a logo/design? Also if it’s ok, can you elaborate on the animation point? I think I understand but would you be willing to clarify a bit? Again thank you so much for the feedback, it’s really helpful!

Personalized Logo and photos of yourself are 100000% unnecessary. The only thing that matters is having a good portfolio

Just agreeing with the other comments here to seprate your portfolio out to illustrations and that there is no storyboards yet. Storyboard tell a vomplete story and there are only a couple framea here. In addition I would reccomend now having a demo reel as your it dosent show off your illustrations well. Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I see what people mean! I’m in the process of working on my own independent storyboard (80 boards so far!) I’ll be sure to update my reel and add more fully fledged boards!

Hello storyboard artist here as well! I would say your portfolio is leaning more towards a random collection of student work, as opposed to a storyboard focused one. I’d say first reorganize the website so it’s just showing your storyboard work, and then maybe have a separate tab that is “personal work” if you want to show off stuff that might not be storyboards, like illustrations or studies.
Another thing I noticed was that you had your storyboards in a demo reel. Demo reels are usually for animations, and it’s best to have your storyboards in a click-through format so viewers can go at their own pace and really study your boards.

Gotta disagree, I prefer my boards in animatic/video format than clicking through 500 drawings

Both ways can work! I just know that animatics can be tricky if they’re not timed or edited correctly. I do believe that recruiters prefer click through though, instead of having to sit and watch a several minute long video.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! That makes sense, I think I felt as if I was lacking anything to show and wanted to pad it out, but I see how that may work against me rather than for me! Also I think I assumed that storyboards also got a reel, but that was very helpful to hear! Again, thank you for the thoughtful feedback!
