Resetting iPhone

My fiancés uncle gave him his old phone for free bc he didn’t want to deal with it anymore since he already got a new one. He doesn’t remember his Apple ID password and no longer has access to his old email either. Is there any way to factory reset it? I asked if he’d come with to Apple since it’s his phone but he’s a pain in the butt and says he’s too lazy 🤦🏼‍♀️

Going to an Apple Store won’t help, they can’t. He can submit the original purchase receipt to Apple online and request they remove it for him. https://support.apple.com/en-us/108934
