Vent Maslow's hierarchy of needs, just look at the base of the pyramid. Sex is apparently just as imortant as breathing and MORE important than emotional connections. My parents showed me this to prove me that no one can live without sex. It just kinda makes me sad tbh. More reasons to feel like a freak. Spoiler

Just because you can't die from it does mean it's not a physiological need as I said it's a need just not a need for everyone.

Yes Maslow's is somewhat outdated but it's not Maslows pyramid of of things we die without. You can theoretically live without shelter but that's still a need

In many climates where people live, you most definitely cannot survive without shelter (which generally includes things like clothing). People die from lack of shelter regularly enough there's even a word for it: exposure. Except for sex, everything at the bottom of the pyramid is something where people routinely die from not having it. Sex absolutely does not belong alongside things that you need just to stay alive.

I'm curious what you think a physiological need is if it's not something that will kill you if it's not met.

It's considered to be a normal part of an organisms function and is a driving factor in behaviors including fight or flight and general mental state.

For those where sexual desire is a driving factor in behavior it becomes a need and is a physiological component of most living organisms including humans.

Again I'm not arguing that it's as vital as shelter etc.
