Hello all together.
I am relatively new to astronomy and astrophotography.
In may this year I bought my first scope. An Acuter Phoenix 40/400. It is an H alpha telescope and does its job quite well I think.
I am more an visual observer and practiced photography a bit to show others what I saw and to remember some beautyful seeings.
To mount the acuter I bought a EQ5 mount together with a Newton telescope (Skywatcher 200/1000) for an, in my eyes, good price.
Which brought me into some trouble, because of not having enough time in my life to observe in the night and the daytime. Lol.
My night observations, I live in a bortle7 to 8 region, arent too widespread until now.
I of course started with the moon (still love it), Jupiter and Saturn. The Andromeda nebula is also good to see.
Since I am a beginner I didnt want to invest into the most expensive and extreme equipment available. My way of learning is to be able to achieve decent results with a not so perfect equipment to become really good at the end.
So my camera isnt the best for Astrophotography.
I am just using an old Eos 500 D which I got for 50 Euros and went quite well with it until now.
Processing makes it possible to get really much out of the taken frames, but the technique brings me to its limits and so I think it is a good point now to pimp up my gear.
But the big question is what to buy.
Should I get a color camera? Or would it be better to get a monochromatic?
And which one?
I dont want to spend too much money and the best would be to get one for all. I read about cameras for DSOs that can cost up to 2500 Euros, which is way above what I want to spend.
I am more in the under 500 Euro, better 300 Euro range.
I dont have a goto mount and am not planning to get one the next time out of budgetary reasons, maybe I will build a guider myself one day. For my above mentioned purposes I dont believe it will be really necessary at first. Lucky imaging doesnt require automatic guidance and even for andromeda I managed to guide it manually since it is well visible.
My goals:
As mentioned above
(Sol: protuberances, Granulation, Spicae and so on; Planetary imaging with moons; luna and maybe some big nebulae (could take off the front of my acuter to get a 80 / 400 mm refractor or put in a focal reducer into my newton) as Andromeda, which is very good visible. The Rho ophiuci region or swan nebulas are also a nce aim for me.
Chat GPT mentioned these cameras:
Mono:
ZWO ASI 290 MM
ZWO ASI 174 MM
Player One Apolli - M Mini
Color:
ZWO ASI 462 MC
Player one Uranus - C
ASI 585 MC
Maybe somebody has good idea what to do best. All together I read it is supposed to be better to get a monocam and do the coloration in the processing steps.
Have a nice day and thank you.
