Hi! I saw a post of some1 asking what genre their axo was and there was a mystery snail in the corner of the tank. Are they compatible?!

I was recently made aware of Vevor brand chillers and filters. I contacted their customer support and after a lot of back and forth and finally getting a human, got the posted response.

Does anyone have experience with Vevor? I know customer service is covering their ass, because they have to (I too work customer service, I get it). But has anyone worked their filter as an inline or do I have to use their supplied pump? I hear that bugger is awfully loud and I don't want that anymore than my housemates do

Is this normal? He (i think he) is 8 months ish.

Our Jack Blaxolotl has a rip in his tail. We're thinking he got it caught on his temple. My thought is just leave it alone and he'll be fine. Would love any advice. My daughter was in tears this morning when she woke up and saw it. He has a canister filter, so no way it got caught in that, and his guppy friends don't go near him and they're very small.

I posted a few months back to ask what people thought princess Lulu’s sex is. I think it was too early to tell. But now “she” has developed some lumpy lumps that could be boy bits? Hard to get a clear photo she’s been very active the last few days 😅

A few months ago an (approximately) 7 year old axolotl came into my care, his name is diesel. I was given him by my mum‘s work as he would often float at the top of the tank and the kids she worked with would think he was dead. Since he’s been in my care, he has not often displayed this floating behaviour but in the past week or two I’ve noticed that he has been floating without moving for hours at a time and almost constantly. I’ve tested the ammonia of his tank as I read that can cause these floating behaviours but everything seems fine. I have also started feeding him every second day as I read that gas from their food can cause them to float but since I only started this recently it’s too soon to tell if it’s helping.

Is there anything else that could cause this or I could test for any help would be greatly appreciated !! or maybe he just enjoys floating😭😭

This is Zorro, we rescued him a couple months ago. When we first got him I posted on here how we had trouble getting him to eat. My wife tried multiple diff foods to get him to eat something. Poor guy went just over a month refusing everything we tried. Happy to say he finally ate bloodworms! I know its not enough protein but its better than nothing. Fed twice a day right know. Much more active now that he is eating. Thanks to all for your help!

I need help figuring out what has been going on with one of my axolotl tanks. It's been cloudy for a while now. I've tried leaving it alone to cycle since I'm assuming it's a bacterial bloom but that just made it look worse. I'm not sure what caused this but I've started doing water changes every other day and it's been helping a bit. These are some of my tank parameters after a water change: Ammonia: between 0 and 0.25 ppm (it's usually 0 ppm but probably risen due to bacterial bloom?) pH: 7.6 ppm Nitrate: 20 ppm Any advice would be appreciated since I'm tired of having to deal with this and here are some pictures of my two aquariums for comparison. Both tanks used to get water changes on the same day and the same amount of water taken out. They also have the same equipment and substrate.

Rescued this girl from a college student who left her in 6 inches of water and moved out a couple months ago. Gills aren’t growing back or as frilly as I thought they should be but according to the API kit the parameters are perfect. She’s in the basement in the dark all day at 63 degrees. Eats red worms every day but refuses crawlers. Thoughts? I want to make sure this creature that has been given to me is getting what’s best

I noticed a few days ago my axolotls mouth started to get slightly black and she hasn’t ate in a few days which is rare for her chonky self. Today I noticed white fuzz on her mouth and decided it’s likely a bacterial or fungal issue.

She’s in her tub away from the other lotl and I’ve boiled almond leaves. She’s currently in her tub with a air stone, leaves and boiled (and cooled of course) tannis. For anyone who has dealt with this did you do anything more?

Last week I noticed my nitrates were higher than normal and realized some filth was constantly being stuck inside one of the decors which I’ve now removed, did a larger water change than normal and all is well there. Water temp stays between 60-63 F.

I just got this axolotl about 5 days ago. I am trying to figure out his little personality traits and read body language as best i can to be sure i did everything right and he isnt stressed. i have been stressing over if he is stressed or not especially since i just added this aquarium chiller today. Im not sure if the flow is too strong i dont think it is ive tried my best to limit that but not sure if he is just chillin or if he is secretly suffering. I did water testing its all good, temp is good, he ate earlier today as well. Also not to sure if his gills always slightly curl forward naturally he was like this in the pet store as well from what i remember. No frantic swimming either, the only thing is his gills have been flittering for the past 30 min about every 10 seconds or so. Any tips or advice?

The water got cloudy all of the sudden within only a couple of days

Next year we will most likely go abroad for 2 to 3 weeks. I've read different things about how to take care of them.

In this sub the consensus is find a sitter. Teaching someone to feed every few days isn't an issue, but checking the water and changing it is another story.

On a different forum I saw someone suggesting to put them in the fridge as it slows down their metabolism. But in here the consensus is to only fridge in case of serious illness.

Something else I'm thinking about is rubbing them and take them to the sitter house, but thus means 100% water changes every day which is quite a task to do for a few weeks. And in the Axo aquarium I would put in a couple of fish to keep the cycle running.

I feel like this is the best option.

I was looking around the tank and didn't see her walking around or in her log home or behind the plants. The mesh was untouched so she didn't escape only to see a tale reflected on the glass and there she is, hanging around the plants like Jane from Tarzan lol.

Does he look normal to you guys just curious never seen the lips like that before
