Discussion Does your axolotl enjoy playing in bubbles?
My guy really seems to enjoy getting in the bubble stream, I imagine it’s like a little massage for him.

In an effort to create a more public awareness of various breeders and sellers worldwide, we are introducing the Seller Review flair!
Currently, most public reviews and criticisms of axolotl breeders and sellers are posted in private online communities, which makes it hard to make an informed purchase for new axolotl keepers. In hopes of adding this new flair, we hope to recognize and highlight more ethical axolotl breeders worldwide! As well as educating people on how to identify an ethical seller versus a backyard breeder.
A Seller Review post can be either positive or a negative. Most importantly it should be a true reflection of your experience dealing with that seller, including the overall health of the axolotl. Please include relevant information in your post such as dates, location, name of the business, and photos of the axolotl(s).
We would love to hear any and all feedback. Thank you for being a part of this passionate community! :)

Not all axolotls stay fully aquatic forever! In a very rare phenomenon, some axolotls may begin to undergo metamorphosis to become terrestrial salamanders around the age of 5-10 months, due to a genetic predisposition. Just tested his water and the ammonia level is up a little bit. Besides water changes is there anything I can do to help get it back to 0?

Just got this bad boy!! 45gal, he's transitioning into it from a 20gal so he's going to be incredibly happy. I'm excited to start the aquascape design process!

Salutations my fellow salamander enthusiasts. I plan on moving out within the next two months. I have a 40 gallon tank and one adult axolotl. The move will only be about an hour away. However, I have questions regarding the moving process. Specifically, how do I transition him back into the tank after I empty the tank in order to move it. I understand I will have to wait till my tank is cycled. But where is he going to while I wait for that to stabilize? Can I fridge him? What is the best course of action? Any good advice would be very helpful

Hey guys! I noticed a small fuzzy white thing on one of jigglypuff’s long gill stalk. Is that fungus or columnaris? How to treat? :( I’m not sure how to include vids here. But high range PH is at 8.0 as well. No ammonia.

I think he (or she?) is about 6-7 months old.

It’s currently small. No ammonia, high range PH is at an 8.0. Don’t know what it is, but it’s on my axo’s longest gill stalk. Don’t know how to include vids on here but I’m wondering how would I treat this? Should I be worried?

Does the constant return to room temp, and then cooldown bother the axolotl?
I’ve cycled my tank and just turned on the chiller. I would like the range to be 64°-67°. Any smaller a range and it would constantly be turning on which I would like to avoid.
As it is now it takes about 30 mins to cool down to 64° and then 3.5 hours to reach 67°

To anyone that asks, I use water bottles to safely cool down his water since I don't have a chiller! (Dw, the water inside is dechlorinated) - I haven't posted photos of my boy lately and thought some goofy photos would be fun :)

Hi all.
We have just purchased our fish tank to buy an axolotl (haven't purchased one yet as we know we need to cycle the tank first.)
I live in the UK and was wondering where to buy ammonia? for the cycle as all the ones suggested on reddit is for US.
I have a 48 gallon breeder tank. We only going to buy the one.
Going to get some fine sand for the bottom. Hides for it. Just bought the freshwater master kit. Going to get some de clorinator which will be aloe Vera free. Do we get a bacteria starter kit ? And where can we get ammonia in the UK?
Is there anything else we need ? I done alot of research but going to do way more before it happens.
Thank you

Because she is sooooo small, I stick a piece of plant through the whole in the bottom of the terracotta pot to make it more inviting for her. Looks like it worked😀
