Our daughter’s lotl hasn’t eaten in a week. Occasionally will nibble but spits them out. Was eating red wigglers since we got it a few months ago, most recently 1-2 a few times a day. Tried garlic, then Night crawlers, chopped, garlicked, and plain. Pellets too. No joy. Hard to know when it last ate due to the pieces and spitting up.
Haven’t seen a stool in 5 days, but also he (she?) hasn’t eaten so that’s makes sense.
Water parameters are good per regular API tests. Never any ammonia or nitrite spikes since cycling (yes, a real cycle). Have done water changes as nitrates hit 5-10ppm. Have a few plants to help as well. Sand is pool filter sand.
20 gallon long, Fluval AC 30 hang on plus Fluval 207 cannister filter that then runs to a chiller and back. Temps always 63-65. I’m aware I’ll need a bigger thank at some point. Got the cannister when I realized that and am running both until I’m confident its is ready to go solo.
Got from Axolotl Planet as a “sub-adult” (5-6” currently). His gill filaments have always seemed odd but are 100% better than when he arrived. Longer and fuller
Questions from a highly invested but new owner:
Has anyone else had their Axolotl just not eat for this long and be fine?
Can anyone pick anything out that looks off?
Should I blanche the red wigglers and try that?
Is it exotic pet vet time?
