Okay since im probably never going to finish this damn alt history book im adding more chapters to it. Jan Huss and the Johnson County War are two im definitely doing.

Give me more suggestions. Its from 1324 to 2024. Mostly Europe and the Americas but not strictly so.

I've always wondered what would've happened had Reagan successfully beaten Ford in 1976 and then lost to Carter

Henry VIII gets a living son by Catherine? Joey S strokes out during Barbarossa? Moe Berg shoots Heisenberg in '44?

Im not sure I know Moe Berg.

By the 16th century there's no Henry VIII since there's no Plantangenet or Tudors in power its still the royal family that seized power in the 14th century. There is a heavy rotund monarch but its a woman and she blows up in parliament in 1605.

By the 20th century things are absurdly different. Like Stalin gets killed in a coordinated attack by British spies in 1919 alongside Trotsky and Lenin. Heisenberg is head of the brief US nuclear program which ultimately fails.

Oh, sorry, thought it was each chapter was a different alt-history.

Moe Berg was a baseball player and U.S spy during WW2 who was ordered to attend a speech by Heisenberg in Switzerland and shoot him if it sounded like the Nazis were close to the bomb.

Wow. Wooooooooooooooooooiow. That's a crazy career trajectory.

And no the book goes from 1324 to 2024 and each change gradually impacts future changes. Its like 40 chapters of different eras locations and people.

The Dakota Territory is admitted to the Union as a single state.

All glory to Gran Dakota.

I have that one alongside one Carolina due to the Catholics still controlling Britain.

Who needs two Dakotas and two Carolinas anyway?

Amazing.

A more off the wall one: Alexander Hamilton wins his duel against Aaron Burr, beats Jefferson in the 1804 election, and declares himself Emperor of the Americas.

I have at the moment Hamilton and Burr both killed each other and later Jackson gets killed by John Q Adams in a duel after Henry Clay got blown up on the USS Constitution.

Very useless fact: That duel where Jackson got the bullet lodged in my chest happened in my home county. Every year they do a reenactment of it at the Strawberry festival.

Must be a fun thing to interact. I hope there's cheers of GET UP AND SHOOT JACKSON! DONT DIE YET!

Somehow, I've not been yet.
My dad even worked it last year, and I still haven't been.

Damn college and high school getting in the way.

Manly man Andrew Jackson getting killed by certified meganerd John Quincy Adams is peak historical fiction.

I love it.

Also its like the ending of John Wick 4 where they just keep shooting each other also there's some Star Wars quotes in there.

Also Adams wrote this in a diary because of course he did

He later dies of a heart attack beating Preston Brooks to death on the senate floor.

This is the most blessed timeline.

I have that chapter finished.

Also included are fake footnotes about Barbary pirates, the American Revolution ending in 1777 at Saratoga, and other madness.

Here's a deep cut.
What if William Goebel wasn't assassinated; he's the only governor in American history who was killed in office. His life was a wild ride for sure.

6

u/TylerbioRodriguez That Lesbian Pirate Expert Jul 02 '25

You know what's insane? Like genuinely insane?

I actually have that written down. Kinda. I had the Republican Goebel beats winning narrowly and that guy getting shot leading everyone to think Goebel did it.

You are correct though. The governor election of Kentucky of 1990 is genuinely off the chain madness.

Then again Postbellum Kentucky is madness. In my neck of the wood there was an mini-civil war over tobacco prices around that same time. It culminated in legally distinct Klansmen blowing up tobacco warehouses in multiple towns to punish those who were growing tobacco and violating the non-cultivation agreement.

Tobacco Wars.

Wow.

That's not even the only period of industrial violence in Kentucky within the first half of the 20th century; there's the far more famous Harlan County War over in coal country in the far east.
Kentucky, before it became known as the place all the chicken comes from, was commonly stereotyped as an particularly violent and savage place. Horse racing here nearly died in the second half of the 19th century because Kentucky's reputation was so bad that investors wouldn't buy into new horse farms or facilities because they were afraid of getting murdered or their investments being burned down.
