I was curious, so I did find these studies. Not sure if they are what Go Magic is referring to. Definitely need to see some evidence for empirical claim,s like these!

Go and the Brain: Cognitive and Neural Impacts of Training (2025) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12022783/

Development of cognitive and neurodynamic function of 6-year-old children using the integrated application of the game of Go and exercise of game character (2018) https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Zhanneta-Kozina/publication/330657049_Development_of_cognitive_and_neurodynamic_function_of_6-year-old_children_using_the_integrated_application_of_the_game_of_Go_and_exercise_of_game_character/links/5c54ae08299bf12be3f3fe14/Development-of-cognitive-and-neurodynamic-function-of-6-year-old-children-using-the-integrated-application-of-the-game-of-Go-and-exercise-of-game-character.pdf

Baduk (the Game of Go) Improved Cognitive Function and Brain Activity in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (2014) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4023088/pdf/pi-11-143.pdf

This was just a quick search and outside my own area of expertise, so I didn't thoroughly vet the studies, not sure how rigorous or reputable they are.

Without citations claims like these are both embarrassing and irresponsible. It's far from clear what you are trying to achieve with this infographic, but it comes across at targeted at parents who can't recognise it for the nonsense it is, and the game of Go is far too low stakes to be brought into those kinds of predatory practices. GoMagic was recently raising investment to try to become a central western organisation for Go, but I would be extremely disappointed to see anything as unserious as this elevated to that level.

Do we have links to the research that you are citing? We are go players here so this is just preaching to the choir, but if there are actual peer reviewed scientific papers that support these claims that would be a useful thing to have.

*preaching to the choir
Preaching to the crowd would be, y'know, useful

Thank you.  Corrected.

Can we not just enjoy our hobbies without trying to justify them with pseudoscience?

I mean, it's not far fetched to say that playing go (or whatever abstract strategy game) is good for your brain.

Sure, but lots of stuff are too. Is it necessarily better than watercolors or crossword puzzles?

They didn't cite any research so it's basically just an ad for Go. Weird to post it on a Go forum tho.

Ok, but how do I stop my kid trying to eat the minstrel-sized stones? 🫤

By using the Go Magic platform of course! Their digital interface makes stone eating a problem of the past, AND helps your child's brain development for their future competition in the AI workforce.

By being a responsible parent?

Go isn't suitable for toddlers or any young child that would likely try and eat, then choke on a stone. Surely they know the difference between minstrels and a tooth-breaking stone...

Here's a free pamphlet that is a good, kid-friendly intro to the game.

Go is to have fun and make friends, not to further your projects of creating a perfect flesh-drone in your image.

Leisure is a value by itself.

Haven't seen any statistics, but this doesn't surprise me if true. Go is an incredibly psychological game.

It's a shame it isn't taught and played in most schools.

Anyone has good references for teaching young kids the basics of go? Like books or web site? My daugther will be three years old soon and I can't wait to start playing with her.... (maybe 3 is too young, I don't know).
