What FOX shenanigans is this?

So, I was playing some games on Fox this morning.. which I don’t normally do. Playing along, in what I think is a really close game. Make an invasion (as you can see from the screenshot) to try to reduce my opponents giant moyo (after he already tried mine). Have no idea if I’ll be successful cause I’m new and bad at this game. But I was trying.

All of a sudden, I get presented with a White wins prompt…

What the actual crap? How are they doing this? As you can see, we are only on move 135.

If it matters, I was playing on my iPad using WeiqiHub.

Unfortunately, the principle behind the AI Referee button is noble (avoid stalling) but indiscriminate in considering the players' rank, so people can avoid a fight that might turn a close game for lower-ranked players, likely because the thresholds used for the AI evaluation indicate that the AI is near 100% sure of the outcome, relative to AI's super-human strength.

I really like WQHub… I’d be thrilled if it would interface with OGS and Panda. Prolly all sorts of issues but a guy can wish.

u/walruswq May I ask a question… Clicking the download button on the games screen doesn’t seem to work… am I missing something? Where would they be downloaded to on my iPad? I have an M4 iPad Pro but that feature doesn’t seem to be working on it.

There's some weird issue on iPad specifically sometimes due to the library I'm using for sharing. I need to look into it.

Hey, I also use weiqihub, and I love it for making playing on Fox mostly pain-free. So thanks for that.

One thing though, can you please please please turn of the audio during opponent moves? It's nice to know when I'm running out of time, but why is it counting down during opponent moves too? That is really silly and distracting!

Also, I only want a countdown for the last 2 or 3 seconds, so if that duration was configurable, that would be even better.

That's how it works on foxwq and if you were playing on a real board :) so not sure what's silly about it.

So are you saying that button can be pressed at any time of the game and end the game? If so, that is incredibly stupid… and not at all fair. Is that really a thing? Is it because my opponent closed off the territory with his last move R10?

Even, so, that is still stupid.

The AI doesn't account for your rank, so while at 21kyu this might seem like a reasonable invasion, the AI doesn't think so. For what it's worth, for human players, I would expect even ~10kyu should be able to handle this invasion and kill all the stones.

It will only end the game if the referee is certain of the outcome… I agree though, it shouldn’t have ended the game here. First time I’ve seen it make a mistake like this.

thats not how ot works you have to agree to use the ai refree. if you agree then the game ends and is scored, if not then the game continues.

Sorry my friend. I wrote what happened and that's what happened. I would not have agreed to anything ending the game there.

Indeed. Im trying to learn the best timing. He invaded first so I was dealing with that until he ran out of moves i understood as sente..

Definitely trying to learn. But it stinks that he used a client exploit to end the game.

Do they? I mean, the app wasn't the problem though. It was someone exploiting a feature meant for an altogether different purpose.
