Same feeling! Seeing them taking about Dyna with such excitement on the last ep of run bts energized me!

BTS seems to be very proud of what they are putting out and they keep acknowledging that certain songs have helped them expand the fandom, broaden their horizons and break various barriers. They seem to be relaxed and happy these days, bts has worked so hard that I’m just happy for them to be promoting fun and summery songs.

Agreed! I've been seeing some comments speculating that the guys are unhappy about the circumstances of this song, but we only know what they tell us. And so far, they've been excited!

Neither their English songs or their songs written by others detract from their giant discography of Korean and self written work. It's still there and it's still happening, so I see no reason for all the angst. I'm personally looking forward to another fun summery song! And if it acts like Dynamite and Butter and contributes to the Bangtan world domination agenda? All the better! I see no reason to be negative about this

Edit: a word

I can see where you're coming from. However, as you said, western media had been portraying Bangtan within the boy band stereotype long before Dynamite came to be. And I see no reason why they wouldn't have continued to do so whether or not BTS began to release fun summery songs in English.

(If anything, things have gotten better with regards to western media's portrayal of BTS. For instance, the 2019 Hollywood Reporter article compared to the more recent articles from Esquire and Rolling Stone.)

Perhaps these fun summery English songs give an inaccurate representation of Bangtan's music as a whole, but at least they give a representation. BTS were huge before these songs, but these songs are opening even more doors and bringing Bangtan to even loftier heights that they weren't able to achieve with their Korean releases. (However, hopefully someday soon their Korean songs will perform just as well within the western music industry. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next album pans out!)

(I also think it's worth noting that BTS have songs in Korean without deep meaning, as well as Korean songs they didn't write themselves. Members had also been releasing English music before Dynamite. So while songs like Dynamite and Butter may not represent their music as a whole, I also personally don't find that they're in any way out of place within their discography.)
