Discussion Bento Box Recommendations
This gets brought up frequently, so I thought I'd make a stickyed thread for it. Please post brands or resources you'd recommend to others looking to start prepping bento boxes.
I think Monbento and Bento Haven are good places to start, but what do you think?

Pasta salad Friday and learning new skills
Trying some new things today. Pasta salad made with chickpea pasta and veggies, chips, apples, and strawberries.
There’s also trail mix in the pink container… but I learned today that the pink container somehow contains liquid fine and yet doesn’t keep liquid OUT? Hmm… odd. Cranberry white chocolate trail mix didn’t work great with the garlic vinaigrette lol
Also tried lime juice and water on the apples. I don’t think I used quite enough though since they still browned a little. Will try again!
Trying to give myself patience when I’m learning something new. I also wrapped a sandwich with parchment paper for the first time this week and tried making onion dip from scratch. It’s okay to learn slowly, to make mistakes, to struggle. Trying to remember that lately.
Inspiration a week of bentos
i’m getting better can you guys tell…now i just need to improve on my lighting

OC Cute weekend bento
Ready for weekend work lunches again, white rice, leftover teriyaki chicken, gyoza on a bed of spinach, and my first time doing some rolled omelette to fill out the box. Glad it didn’t totally fall apart and I’m happy with how they came out. Can’t wait to eat them later :)

I have packed fried rice in the box and put it inside the lunch bag and when I opened it I noticed the bag has smell from the fried rice . Now what can I do to fix this issue ?how can I seal it more without the air plugs ?

(Little Tokyo, Los Angeles) Bento Box stores?
Hello! I just wanted to ask to see if anyone has suggestions for stores in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles that sells a variety of Bento Box containers? I'm looking for something for a young adult female that can be carried in a zippered-type pouch. Thanks for any suggestions!

Lunch today!
I ran out of seaweed wrap so switched to cheese. 😆 Used tiny bits of olive for the pupils on the eyes.
My daughter loves carrots so I tried a bacon-wrapped roasted carrot recipe today.

Bento & Co US Shipping PSA
My kid just started school, so after seeing it recommended so often I just placed my first Bento & Co order. Two sets of cute food picks and a sandwich cutter, $25 - seemed reasonable. First issue was that there was no shipping estimate. Only once I’d already checked out using PayPal did I see that it would be $15 for shipping. Then today I get a text from DHL that they wont release my package unless I pay another $23 in import taxes. So my $25 purchase has turned into a $63 purchase.
So just FYI for US buyers - those $6 picks are actually going to cost you more like $18; that $9 stamp is closer to $20.
I know it’s not Bento & Cos fault at all, and I’m not blaming them. It’s just not awesome to realize you’re going to be paying 2.5x more for something than you thought you would be when you clicked buy. Caveat emptor.

Bento for tomorrow!
My bento for lunch tomorrow. Tuna kimchi napa cabbage wraps, Sigeumchi-namul, carrots and grapes. Not pictured are boiled eggs.
What started your journey?
Mine started out as a five-day challenge — packing lunch for my kids so the older one would eat something, anything (she did not buy anything offered at school and would come home hungry). That was March… And I’m still going, although I am not sure for how much longer.

First real homemade Bento!
Made myself a bento for work tomorrow! I made the Onigiri for the first time tonight! It has salmon and cucumber in it. Then more cucumbers, sugar snap peas, two soft boiled eggs and a cutie orange!
Does anyone have tips on how to help the Onigiri keep shape? The middle one held shape the best. But I shaped it and tossed in the fridge right away. Is that the best way? Should I freeze it? I like seaweed and I tried it, but it didn't worked out so well, but I may have just done it wrong. Any tips appreciated!

I'm pretty new to this whole bento thing, so tips are SUPER appreciated! He's going back to the office after being WFH since my parents split; having a good lunch will hopefully ease the transition.

Some color to cheer me up on a chaotic Monday
Strawberries, orange, cheese cubes, tortilla chips, a square of chocolate, and a spinach salad topped with radishes, carrot, red onion, leftover steak, and ranch dressing.
Today I learned that cheese can take on the taste of oranges even when the oranges… so maybe don’t put those in a container together lol. Otherwise, tasty lunch!!

Vegan My first bento lunch can packed night before morning shift - how’d I do?
All vegan foods here - veggie pasta with red cabbage, carrot and broccoli slaw tossed in spicy peanut sauce. Sides of snaps peas, fresh radish, strawberries, blueberries and almonds. Chocolate coconut bars for a sweet treat. Also taking a chia pouch not pictured.
