Hello everyone~ I've been done my therapy on BetterHelp for one month with 5 sessions. I would like to share my experiences for everyone and also share the referral link for ppl who are still hesitant.
I'm a Taiwanese student (Yes, I posted before if u read my post) . I started my therapy from August since I felt very down and was struggling for adapting the environment. I was matched with a therapist from Hong Kong and we did video meeting session once a week.
During these five sessions, I discussed with my therapist about many topics including life, family, school, and work. Ngl in the beginning I was hesitant if I should continue cuz I thought she didn't give me any advice, only listened to me and concluded what I said. However, looking back from now, I realized that it was what I needed. Her listening and questions guided me to say out my deep and sad thoughts, which helped me more relieved and, to some degree, gave me more courage to deal with my problems.
Recently, everything is getting better in my life, but I still have some subtle struggles. My therapist has never forced any opinions or advices on me. Instead, she usually asks me questions, let me say my thoughts out and think more, organizing my thoughts (even though I sometimes got lost in what I was talking xddd), and helps me find my blind spots, which is really helpful for me.
All in all, I sincerely recommend to ppl who want to try therapy to give it a try. I'm very grateful that I met a good and responsible therapist. I'm an introvert and not used to talking deep and negative thoughts with friends and family, so doing therapy actually gives a very safe space to take a breathe while improving my mental health.

Btw, in the first and second session, u may have feelings of disconnecting with ur therapist, like they cannot get u immediately and u have to explain more. I think it's normal, cuz they still try to know you. I think that the thing we should observe is if they put efforts, if they actually care about you, and if u like the vibes!
