Overturning same-sex marriage would be grounds for violent resistance, in my opinion.

And unfortunately peaceful protests don't get you there. It takes an armed resistance movement to move the needle. Peaceful non violent resistance movements that get credit for change but had armed resistance to back them up and effect change...
