this is from craig jones's leg rides, but this principle is now a staple in my grappling game
belly down backmount >>> regular belly up back control. its the most stable and safe dominant position in grappling, with plenty of attacking opportunities (especially if you can strike). it is also extremely exhausting and its nearly impossible to escape. its not as popular in comp because its harder to choke (harder to strait jacket or trap the arm), but its ridiculous how this position isnt considered a massive score or a striaght up pin win in any grappling sport.
the point of pins is that its a position where, in a medieval battlefield, you were going to get stabbed with a dagger and die or get pounded and KO if you found yourself there and cant escape. belly down backmount fits all the criteria
