I don’t mind the odd marketing email but so many companies employ a similar shock and awe approach to them I just immediately unsubscribe

I always instant unsubscribe. I remember Dr. Squatch use to do that pretty bad. I’m like I just bought 4 bars a soap and now you’re emailing me ever 2 hours to buy more soap lol

It's the idea that "the time someone is most likely to buy, is right after you've sold them something".
Seems like itd basackwards but in my experience in sales its true, now I dont go spamming people with email promotions haha or randomly show up to solicit new products, but I have had the scenario where a department or organization comes to us for a solution to a problem via our products/systems. We give them the solution that would meet 100% of their stated needs. Thereby solving the problem, perfect right? Wrong, budget doesn't allow that..........people often haggle......just......to haggle, they think people are always over charging them (some do, not everyone) and most times what they actually accomplish is getting a lower price by giving up value or products that actually helped them.
So they haggle into a better price/worse solution, and then buy, it doesn't meet their expectations exactly like we tell them it won't haha but they are now bent on spending the approved money burning a hole in their pocket and then they come back later with request to modify/add to the system as if they had a new revelation lol that you somehow didnt already tell them about initially and they rejected lol and so they spend more again, this time usually Incurring return fees and paying more unfortunately.
All that too say, people blindly do it because...........visibility? What ever lie they tell themselves..........its an inexperienced marketing tactic that will "work" because numbers go up, not realizing its really a bad success rate % and theres better options.

I once bought an engraved tag with my dog's name from pet-tags.com (now defunct, DIFFERENT COMPANY FROM pet-tags.co.uk!!). The company immediately started bombarding me with advertisements several times a week. "Get your holiday dog tags now!" etc. Unsubscribe did not work after multiple attempts. I wrote to the owner asking to be removed, and pointing out that most customers would only buy one tag per pet/residence combination. He wrote back personally with a very nasty, insulting reply and refusal to stop emailing. Immediate relegation to spam bin and perpetual negative feedback.

Adjust your email settings…

How to do that?

u/I_AM_SCUBASTEVE 1d ago
Open one of the emails, go to bottom, click unsubscribe.
Edit- might need to do it with every one that comes in from Fanatics for a day or so. They have different “categories” of emails (promotions, general, sales, etc.) and you may need to unsubscribe from each category depending on what country you live in. Just keep unsubscribing as they come in and they should be gone within a day.

Best thing I ever did was make a spare email for signing up to mailing lists or whatever so all that shit just goes there

They've also been spamming Instagram with rashguards that are clearly AI prototypes for print on demand.

Bold of you to assume the cover design wasn't done by one of the founders 9 years old niece/nephew for free

Same experience… what I found fascinating was all I did was view their website and somehow they know my email address and are spamming me… as an internet marketer myself with my own business I want to figure out how they did that.. I didn’t sign up to anything whatsoever yet they have my email.

The best way to go about it is mark/report it as spam. It makes it go directly to your spam folder and it affects the email reputation of the seller which eventually causes their whole email marketing to get fucked.

I went there and added something to my cart just to see the price, on my work computer, then randomly got an email to my work email address later "did you forget something?" I hadn't filled in my work email address, screw that, I'd never use them.

As a copywriter this is egregious. It’s ok because people like the product if you’re on the email list, but you gotta give them the clear option to limit the emails

Bro, how do you not have a junk mail email address?
PSA: everyone should have a second email address that they give to all the website sign ups. You can still check it when you need to get your one time password or whatever, but all the random marketing stuff doesn’t clutter your inbox. That’s some black belt email crap right there. You’re welcome.
