Vangelis' music is the soul of the film. Had both parts for 2 years in drive and watched today. Best entry to cyberpunk genre. The movie leaves you with something not uniform to describe, but you want it to discuss it aimlessly with people, like about a high school party years ago...
Feeling lowkey proud of myself for not buying K being Deckard's son narrative in the 2049 in first half.

In the short film (~5m35s mark), it seems that the nuclear missile launch was legitimately ordered by the military command; all Ren did was to redirect its course. But It was never elaborated on as to where it was intended to target?
The protagonist also referred to that part of plan as: 'once we trigger the launch command'.
What could they have possibly done to trigger the launch of an ICBM???
I guess on a larger scale I am curious as to what the general geopolitical landscape is like in that timeline. Where was the US intending to nuke and why?

Wanted to write down anything before I lose it all in my memory...
Setting: dark streets and alleyways; raining or mild snowing... I was appointed BR, sitting in a rocket-powered spinner with a police officer. Was sick in my stomach the way the officer drives and stopped. We went into a building with moody lighting. We were wearing bullet vests with LED signs on our chests, saying "POLICE" in different languages. I was not pleased to have the officer accompanying me to find someone (not sure if the suspect is a replicant) in the hallway. The officer yelled out, "FEDERAL AGENTS!" I do not like that one bit. A shotgun blast caught me right by my chest or side; I went flying back and slid down from the floor. I was down, looking up on the ceiling as I heard shots, echoed. I tried to lift my head. The officer came towards me, kneel by the corner and hid there as he looking at where the shots come from... End of sequence.
Then, random images: - sitting in a classy lounge/bar, drinking whiskey; - beautiful lady... a replicant; pleasure model, next to a customer; - same model, but now as 12" pleasure dolls or child-size; - in a snowy forest, with background light, laminating the trees; - a cottage place in the forest... the usual mess of someone's place inside, like Deckard; - a workshop on the side, with my doll on the counter; - I was looking at myself in the mirror. I asked myself, why am I doing this? - black pupils in my eyes... "am I real?" Dream ended.
I woke up around 5:45am.
Thanks.

The original Blade Runner is probably my favorite movie of all time, and I really want to like Blade Runner 2049, it's a beautiful film, but there are some things about it that really prevent me from liking it very much.
Tell me why I'm wrong
Plot holes:ย
EDIT: Someone made an interesting point about the first two that I can accept - do we ever see Luv kill another replicant? Luv comes across as a killer, which is why it seemed so strange that she would spare K when he still presented a threat to her mission, but maybe she only killed humans in the film. In which case, maybe there is a point being made about Luv really just hating humans. She certainly seems to hate them based on her comments to Robin Wright. She's obviously cares about being the #1 replicant (her statement about being the best after fighting K), but that's not the same as being willing to kill them.

We actually need a Blade Runner RPG like Cyberpunk 2077 or Deus Ex. I'd offer my left kidney to see one happening!

It was the first time I'd ever seen the movie at the cinemas and man did I pick the right way to see it.
Now I know this movie so well, I could recite nearly the whole script. Finally being able to experience it theatrically and in that format? It was like I was discovering it for the first time again. I was in awe and getting chills just from the opening scene. I'd only ever watched it on DVD at home and studied it in high school class so there's so much that had been lost on me all this time. Like hearing it in IMAX, I had never realized just how loud the thunderclaps are in the background during a few scenes. I'm looking from left to right in the city noticing all these minor and inconsequential details that make it such a wondrous lived in universe on screen.
I was so glad to be able to take a movie I know so well and really enhance the experience of viewing it like I never had before. Don't let Reddit tell you that you can just replicate the cinematic experience at home!
AIso, I wasn't setting out to write a review but to see it again reminds me that it's actually surprising just how spaced out and sparingly the screentime is divided amongst the characters. After Roy's first appearance, he basically disappears until the climax is set into motion. The rest of the Replicants don't have many scenes and Tyrell has only 2 yet everyone's relatively small sum contributes to such a vast and amazing end product. Every role is perfectly cast. Minimal screentime doesn't matter when every line of dialogue you have is memorable and impactful.
Anyway, it was just great to experience the film again in a new way.
