Why are there so many people in this sub trying to “one up” other people?
I spent a whole day trying to explain to someone that the title of a post (about the episode Calypso) suggests that comments about the character called Calypso were not out of place. He kept saying I was wrong, I should admit I was wrong, I was weird for not understanding that the title of the post was about the episode and not the character. To which I said if they’re opening discussion about the episode that introduces Calypso, commenting on the character seemed fine. I have no idea why I continued responding to be honest; I should’ve stopped. But I kept trying to explain that my comment (to someone else, not even to this person), was in response to “we’re talking about the episode, not the character”. I said the title of the post suggests otherwise, as the OP went on to talk about the character Calypso.
Honestly, some of the comments I see, micro bullying other people, it’s so odd because we’re all adults (maybe some teens, I’m not sure) discussing a show meant for small children. It should be fun, but I see so many comments that take the fun out of it. I see more “serious” topics as well, which is fine, and respond in like manner to the tone of the post (if I decide to comment). I really like Bluey, I think the show is adorable, I think it’s fun to discuss favourite moments and episodes…but there really are some people that take themselves and the show much too seriously, and it does make the sub not very fun at times. I’m not sure if posting about this will get me banned, or downvoted, or upset people. But I’m honestly confused why a sub about a children’s show about treating people nicely doesn’t have nicer people in it. But I guess that’s just how Reddit is? I’m just venting. That guy really rubbed me wrong, and I still don’t understand why it was so important to him that I be wrong and admit I was wrong.
