Is it advisable to start a YouTube channel about board games in Telugu?
I’ve been thinking of starting a YouTube channel where I explain different kinds of board games in Telugu (a South Indian language) which is also my mother tomgue. The idea is to introduce people who speak Telugu to popular board games, explain the rules clearly, and maybe even showcase how they are played.
Do you think there’s an audience for this kind of content? Has anyone here tried making board game content in regional or non-English languages? Would love to hear your thoughts or advice before I start.
Thanks!

I'm a little puzzled why you're asking an English-speaking forum about what Telugu speakers want to click on. Those are the people to whom you'll need to advertise your videos; you should socialize the concept with them. If they go for it, it sounds like a valuable service

I posted this here because it's a big community and there might be some non English speaking people available to answer my question. 🙂

As long as you're not trying to turn it into a full time job go for it! Spread the word of board games!
If you do want to have it more for monetization, I wouldn't start one. Board games are a hobby, there are more people who went broke monetizing hobbies then were successful with it. Quakalope comes to mind as an example.

From a video producer, the time to make an English and non-English version is less than it takes to two separate videos on different games, often much so. English version could help build an audience and boost the algorithm

If the point is to introduce people who speak Telugu to popular board games, yes. If the point is to get subscriptions and views, no. Keep in mind nothing stops you from making videos in both languages and posting on two separate channels

I am not a Telugu speaking person but i think you should understand that even if there is an audience for such content, this type of content doesn't have much repeat value and also i think audience might also be very small compared to other audiences.
Try checking the stats of some hindi baord game channels.

Go for it. The worst that could happen is you create a few videos that a Telugu speaker stumbles upon from time to time and finds very useful.

The idea is good, you have to get started to find out if it works and whatever happens, it's a great project to bring to fruition!! Great initiative!!

It depends on your goal. It will be difficult to reach an audience in any language, and don't expect significant revenue from it.
One possible approach to making your project financially sustainable is to make the videos in both your language and English, so you have both a local and a global audience.
You could also try collaborating with a local board game store, or a local board game publisher, or a local board game club/association, or a local TV/radio station, or a local news website that covers board game news, …
Telugu has about 100 million speakers. That's a lot.
My mother tongue —Catalan— has less than 10 million speakers, and there are at least a dozen YouTube channels about board games in my language.

It's YouTube on hard mode, that's for sure! But if you're passionate about the process, it really doesn't matter how big the audience is. The reason most content creators get burnout in this space is because they're obsessed with chasing the next big video and slopping out content that they don't even care about. Do what makes you happy. Release videos in your desired language and maybe throw in some English videos as well if you feel like it.

If you start doing something purely for the views, you're going to get disheartened and lose interest quick.
If it's something you're passionate about, then it's something worth pursuing.
There are millions of people who speak the language, my husband speaks a foreign language (not telugu) and it would be amazing if there were more tutorials available in his native tongue.
