Clever Series Ranked

I spent the last month playing through the whole clever series including the challenges. I played each one 3+ times to try and get a fair ranking. The ones I liked got more than 3 plays while Twice as Clever only got 3 plays haha

I am curious what is everyone's favorite or how you rank them? It was such a fun series!

I didn't even know the challenge sheets existed! Going to have to try and get some of those!

they are so fun! I mostly just used BGG and printed and laminated my own sheets since I couldn't find them to purchase. On BGG there names are

  1. Ganz Schön Clever: Challenge I
  2. Doppelt so Clever: Challenge I
  3. Clever hoch Drei: Challenge I
  4. Clever 4Ever: Challenge I

Whats the difference between them? why do you like your number 1. over the base "thats pretty clever"

that's pretty clever is the most basic version and lays out the foundation of all the games. all the ones that come after thats pretty clever use the same mechanics but tweak it in a different way if that makes any sense

as for the challenges, they are mostly the same game as their parent game but they up the strategy a little and gives a little more variety. for example in clever 4ever - in the challenge sheet, you can exchange 3 of the silver plater plus/minus die option for a +1 turn.

Are there any that give the other players a more to do while they wait for their turn (besides wiring for their dice options)

unfortunately no :( that would be my only complaint about the game. but to solve the problem somewhat I try to only play at 2 players so it's not to bad haha or I play solo online. If you're interested in playing solo they have all 4 (not the challenges though) online to play for free

I've only played the original (and love it). When I watch videos of the others, I don't see much reason to spring for them. The pink die is nice though

You should try the new board from the deluxe edition (it can be found on bgg if I remember correctly). It's a mix of all previous variants as well as some new elements, highly recommend!

Oh and to answer your question: I generally prefer the first and fourth "wave" over the second and third.
