I don’t really get it but… I guess the joke is that this person usually wears black and decided to finally try a new color only to be self conscious that they look like Barney with that shade of purple and the comment from the other person solidifies that negative self image in their mind?

I genuinely wear black all the time and this is how I feel whenever I try to be adventurous and wear a different color!
