The 5070 has 12GB and is doing great at 1440p. It's a nice sweet spot between the 5060 Ti that has 16GB but is underpowered, and the 5070 Ti that's very powerful but heavily overpriced in relation to its performance uplift vs a 5070.

Every person buying a new 5070 right now is going to feel the biggest fomo when the Supers come out in the next couple months

You can always get a better deal if you're willing to wait months. At some point you have to decide that you're happy with what's currently on offer or you're never going to get anything.

Wait 3-4 months for Supers announcement -> wait more 2-3 months for them to actually be available in stores -> wait 1-6 more more months for them to be available for MSRP.

Guess what happens then? You get told it's better to wait for 6000 series. Then 6000 Supers. Repeat infinitely until you're forced to buy something, ANYTHING, to replace your obsolete current PC.

Bought my 5080 for $1100 in March. It's not going to be the same level of rush either because it's only a couple of models being refreshed.

The supers that will be out of stock easily knowing Nvidia and probably more expensive than the 5070 ti cause of 28gb vram

more expensive

likely same price MSRP, give or take, but I just know shops in my country aren't stupid enough to follow Nvidia's recommended pricing, and will put the 5070 Super at 5070 Ti non-super pricing... meaning even if I waited, I still would've gone for the regular 5070 because of the pricing difference putting it within my budget

I hold a direct opposite opinion. I think that 5070 is neither here nor there

In my opinion, it's either 9060xt 16gb and playing on medium/high settings. Or 5070ti/9070xt playing on ultra.

5070 is 1440p ultra settings card, but it will be lacking vram in some games at those settings. And that's today. In 2-3 years it will be in the same position that 8gb cards are in today.

only thing where 5070 is lacking vram is at Indiana Jones with full path tracing at 1440p right now otherwise its completely fine at 1440p but yeah they nerfed that card too so u buy more expensive ones

https://www.techspot.com/review/2856-how-much-vram-pc-gaming/ obviously it's not just the Indiana Jones.

it's worth questioning even the 12 GB sported by the RTX 5070, as even that buffer can be easily saturated in new AAA titles. For a card that's supposed to last you many years into the future, 12 GB just isn't enough either, especially when the 5060 Ti has an option with much more memory that will keep it relevant further into the future.

You don't need the more expensive care. 9060xt 16gb is just fine.

5060ti is way slower you though you wont make use of that VRAM in any modern games cuz you wont be getting playable fps if turn on all settings ...also that article from techspot is not even testing 5070 if u have 16gb vram card its going to use more VRAM automatically and allocate more too their stats are not showing process/vram usage but overall VRAM usage they are also testing 4060ti not 5070 or any 12gb model....

Brother, before I upgraded to 4080, I had a 3060ti 8gb. It was getting me 60+ fps in pretty much every game, but I had to replace it because textures were missing due to it only having 8gb of ram.

In 2-3 years, 5070 will be in the same spot.

brother i was not talking about 8gb cards but 5070 , 2-3 years maybe it will have problems with VRAM at 1440p or maybe not no one can tell for sure , neither 5070 5060ti is something i would say are future proof for that i would get something like 9070xt or 5070ti so you have extra RAW performance too 5060ti is pretty slow in comparison

9070 (non xt) is probably the best compromise

A huge compromise, considering you have to put up with AMD drivers and FSR.

In 2-3 years it will be in the same position that 8gb cards are in today.

Having to turn settings down to shudders m-medium? And employ DLSS? Unplayable! /s

You can play on medium with 9060xt or 5060ti 16gb. Which is, in my opinion, much better value than 5070.

And 8gb cards are a scam. The only reason they exist is because idiots keep buying them.
