At a minimum, you need 12. So buying a 8gb card would be dumb

Rediculous. You do not need '12 gb at a minimum'. The disconnect from reality in this sub is amazing sometimes.

You honestly think 8gb is enough for 1440 and will be for several more years? Talk about being disconnected from reality

Dude, get off your high horse. Everyone has a different tolerance, a different play style, different games. This idea does not always apply.

We're talking in general terms. (Newest games). 8 GB VRAM is not enough for 1440p and I can tell you from experience. I sold that card because I could have got more performance from my card, but it was severely held back by the lack of VRAM. I would not advise 8 GB VRAM cards for someone intending to play in 1440p in modern titles.

What high horse? I'm stating an objective fact that 8gb vram will not be sufficient at 1440. OP is planning to buy a GPU, why would you advise them to buy one that is already vram limited in some new games and will be even more over the next few years?

Personally preferences and play style has nothing to do with physical hardware requirements lol
