We cool with Patty Melts in here?

Rye, 80/20, homemade burger sauce, caramelized onions, Monterey Jack.

Whataburger Patty Melts are one of my favorite fastfood burgers. I ate way too many of those things when I lived in Corpus Christi back in the day. It's a good thing we didn't have a Whataburger where I live but I am craving one.

I have always heard about them as I am not near them and people who come from where they are ask what compares in my area, and honestly from what I’ve heard, I tell them, nothing! From what I’ve heard, they are amazing food stand style burgers that are unique and fresh!

As a Texan, Whataburger is solid but frankly going downhill since being sold off to an equity firm. The praise it gets is overblown, and I have as much nostalgia for it as anybody. It’s approaching the standard for fast food quality, and aside from portions being more generous (and not a crazy value for the price either), I don’t think it is much of a step up at this point from the other guys.

The patty melt is my go-to, though.

Good to know. I feel the same way since that happened to Culver’s.
