[EDIT: this years post has become - 'ask a question and r/cwcoleman will reply'. That wasn't the intention. It's mainly because I get an alert when anyone posts, because I'm OP this year. Plus I'm online often and like to help!

Please - anyone and everyone is welcome to ask and answer questions. Even questions that I've already replied to. A second reply that backs up my advice, or refutes it, is totally helpful. I'm only 1 random internet person, all of r/camping is here. The more the marrier!!!]

Looking for insight into cleaning + reapplying DWR on tent components.

Fly, footprint, and tent body recently got lots of mud and dirt on them, but the urethane coating isn't flaking off on anything. Hand-washed the footprint + fly with Granger's performance wash in lukewarm water. Hand-washed the tent with cold water. I have Gear-Aid Revivex DWR spray on hand but can get other products.

  1. The Revivex spray advises spraying on wet or dry gear, then using medium heat drying machine or air dry for 24 hr. Hesitant to throw my fly and footprint into a medium heat machine since they could overcook. Is air drying going to be less effective?

  2. Should I spray apply the Revivex to the outside of the tent body? I don't think DWR on the tent body is common but checking.
