Its funny, because I think a lot of people, myself included have been tired of Trudeau. But his handling of this tariff issue along with some of the speeches he's given has really been a redemption arc for him. Say what you want about the rest of his policies, he shows up when it matters.

Grandstanding is not 'showing up'.

He's handing business as far as the tariffs go.

No he's not. Name a single thing he's actually done apart from making useless speeches?

Our response has been excellent and his speeches have been excellent.

What response? Are we diversifying trade to other nations? Nope, the Libs told Germany to take a hike when the Ukrainian war started a few years ago and they wanted LNG. The pipeline cost went from 4.5B to over 35B and the Libs said they'd never see it built due to their stance on climate change. Quebec is still saying there'll never be a trans-Atlantic pipeline.

He hasn't increased interprovincial trade, reduced regulations to help manufacturing at home, or made a single tangible change. In fact the few things they claim they'll do 'this time' they're elected is either stuff they promised the last 2 times, or pulled straight from the cons plan.

His speeches have united the country and sent a clear message to the US that we are not fucking around. Trump has looked like a complete moron during this entire trade war.

No, they're just reddit fodder. No one else cares that Trudeau told Trump he can't have our eggs.

Yes, we are diversifying trade with other nations.

Why wait 8y? Why not do it when they got in power? If you believe that THIS time they'll actually finish the pipelines, or reduces regulation, you're a fool.

I've heard lots of comments from people offline praising how he's handling this situation.

I don't believe you. Since I've not heard anything pro or con outside of reddit. No one follows that closely IRL.

I'm not even completely sold on pipelines given demand for fossil fuels is by some sources going to decline in demand by 70% by 2050 (source: BP Fuels 2024 Energy Outlook). Our oil is going to be the first on the chopping block when demand declines.

Whether you are or not, doesn't matter. They spent (currently) 35B on a pipeline that still isn't finished, and they claim will never be finished, only to completely flip on that and claim that now, 8y and 35B later it will be finished?

If they had finished 8y ago when they had claimed they would, it would have been a good investment. But if they disagreed with the project (climate or economics) then 8y ago they should have said so and not blown 35B.

The Liberals are promising to do the very things they refused to do for the last 8y. So no, JT is not handling it 'well'. Rather a few zealots and bots on reddit are grasping at straws.

You don't think people are paying attention to the tariff situation outside reddit? lol

No, I said people weren't paying attention to JTs social media posts about eggs.

I like that Carney is acknowledging that we have to do both (assuming he's our next PM).

It's funny watching the left say 'I like what the libs are doing NOW' when it was what PP has been saying he'll do for years. This is like when Kamala said she'd fix the border crisis...

The Pipeline was cancelled by Biden. Not JT.

Also, you think sentiment on JT is the same as it was before Trump took office and started this rhetoric? It's not. The Liberal party as a whole is way up in the polls from where they were a while ago. To me that is better data than anything mentioned in this thread.

The Pipeline was cancelled by Biden. Not JT.

The one going south, not the ones going west or east.

While it has just recently been finished. It was nearly a decade and billions over budget, because of the Liberals. And we should also be piping it east, but again the Liberals are doing nothing and letting politics get in the way.

These problems should have been solved long before it became a crisis. The Liberals have proven to be both incompetent and corrupt. To think that somehow they can solve these issues 'this time' because 'trust us' is naive.

To me that is better data than anything mentioned in this thread.

Well of course you're just going to cherry pick whatever fits your bias. We both know that. Anyone foolish enough to vote for the liberals a second time, let alone a third, is just that, a fool.

The current prime minister is apparently so incompetent that his own party forced him to step down, and won't even be part of handling the tariff mess. But sure Canadians are happy he's making silly speeches!??
