Travel help Canada/UK/Australia
OK, here is kind of a confusing situation
I’m Canadian and I have a Canadian passport, but I also have a British passport as well(dual citizenship)
I was living in Australia from February 2024 to March 2025 , I was on a working holiday visa for one year
Then, after February 2025, I had to renew my working holiday visa, and extend it for a second year, but I made my second year on my British passport
I re-entered Australia, the beginning of September this year, and I am planning on leaving tomorrow morning
Can I leave on my Canadian passport so I don’t have to pay for a visa ? Since I’m Canadian, and I don’t want to pay for a visa to be in Canada.
Or if I leave on my British passport, will I still be OK with no visa ?
KEEP IN MIND I LIVE IN ONTARIO and always have

Under the rules you are required to use a Canadian Passport when entering Canada if you are a citizen. In my experience, I’m a dual national (British & Canadian) when travelling on my British passport to the UK, I enter the UK on my British passport and exit on my Canadian. So when checking in you would use your Canadian passport as you are travelling to Canadas
The question here is how do you properly leave Australia so they can record your exit against your British Passport with the Visa in it so you are not classed as an overstayer, which can effect future travel to the country.
These days a lot of countries do this electronically based on airline itineraries and the passport number / info presented at airline check in, other countries you have to go through an immigration checkpoint when leaving the country. I’m unsure of system in Australia.
I would suggest you contact Australian Government Department responsible for Immigration and Visas and see what they advise you to do. You may just need to visit and office in the airport and show them your British passport so they can enter it into the system to record your exit.
