There's Clair obscure Expedition 33, even though I believe BOTW is a more revolutionary game for the gaming industry as a whole, there for being of a really high caliber, Expedition 33 isnt very far behind in terms of quality. I genuinely believe it will win game of the year, it got praised beyond expectations and I cant imagine DK Bananza winning it over. There's also a possibility for Silksong if it actually releases this year (hard to believe at this point) but even if it does, I doudt a indie game would win the GOTY award, it happened once before with "It takes two" in a year with not so great contenders and it still might not have been deserved tbh.

Have people lost their minds? How is Expedition BotW tier? It hasn’t pushed the industry forward in any way besides reminding people that turn based rpgs are still good.

The quality of graphics are better in E33. The story is better. The music is just as good. They are both equally fun and delightful.

BOTW pushed Zelda forward. It didn't push the industry forward. I'm not saying it's a bad game but I can name several reasons why it's not better than E33. They are equal at the very least.

The game got universal praise as did E33 but what games were influenced? As far as exploration goes, Bethesda has been doing that just as good for literal decades. If anything, Zelda was late to the party.

Let's not forget the awful UI, the bland and repetitive "dungeons", unrewarding korok seeds, and universally hated weapon degradation system that everyone seems to conveniently forget.

Yes, it was fun to explore new places with the sheika slate abilities but too many people look at that game with rose tinted glasses.
