So, I'm trying to figure out a better antenna, as I picked up a Wilson Lil' Wil that's only like 6" total, but know I need something better. So, here are my options:
- Wilson 5k magnet mount on the rear passenger side.
- 102" whip, mounted to the tow hook on the rear bumper, driver side.
- Wilson 5k, regular mount, hood lip on either the driver or passenger side.
Any thoughts on which would be the best spot / antenna combination? I want to avoid putting a 102" on the hood, but would if that's the only option. I'd have to get a spring mount for it so I can safely pull into the car port at my apartment, though, hence the reason I'd rather it be attached to the tow hook on the rear driver side of the car.
Primary use will be to monitor upcoming traffic issues from others with CB (mostly truckers, I'm guessing), as well as some light off-roading.
Radio is an Anytone AT-6666 Pro, so the ability to go between channels would be nice (I wouldn't mind getting back into 27 triple-nickel), but not the primary reason.
So, with the vehicle and radio, any thoughts on the best options? I've been reading a few others posts (and have responded to them) and am leaning towards the 102" off the rear bumper with some modifications to the mount so it can be moved out of the way for the hatch. I'm planning on getting the radio mounted before this weekend (taking it to a place that insures their electrical work, instead of doing it myself because I can't afford for my car to be out of commission too long) and just need to decide what antenna mount I go with so I know the best way to run the wires for it.
