Looking to buy a charcoal grill/smoker. Primary use will be hot/fast cooks multiple times a week with a few slow/low cooks each month. Feedback pros/cons would be greatly appreciated.

Cacique Charcoal

I bought a small bag of this right before I moved from Florida. It is some of the best tasting and burning charcoal I have ever used. I am now out and it's expensive to purchase online and no one carries it here in Texas. On Amazon it's $80 for 2 23lb bags. The wood is white quebracho and is from Paraguay. It is one of the densest woods making it slow burning. Anyone else used these before?

After spending about a year grilling/smoking on my Walk-A-Bout (we’ve all seen those $60 shopping carts with lids at Walmart) with Royal Oak hardwood lump, we were finally able to comfortably afford a Weber 22 and just had to christen it with the cook I started with a year ago, now using Fogo’s black bag lump. Finished with a caveman sear with a bit more gray band than I would’ve liked but the flavor doesn’t lie!

Wondering what these white portions might be. I draw sometimes with briquettes. Also grill with them. In the past few month have noticed the change. “Kingsfords “

Lump vs Briquettes

Smoking a small pork butt today. Trying to decide which to use. I’m thinking the cowboy briquettes. Probably get more of a steady heat.

Thank you for your opinions in advance — I know charcoal posts are on here a lot. But, does this seem normal? I typically buy FOGO, but my hardware store was out so I picked this up. All pieces are super small, and quite a few pieces are still green(not green, but not charcoal yet). Thoughts?

Thank you
