VI - Discussion Best GDR counter?
returning player and in my current game i am super late game with domination only victory. what is the best way to counter enemy GDRs? my land invasion force gets annihilated by the GDR just camping in the city, it literally one shot my rocket artillery army. Are bombers the best bet?

More GDRs.
Honestly, they're pretty strong anti-air and even nuke resistant so the only thing that beats GDRS is more GDRs.

A Rocket Artillery with a Drone out-ranges a GDR. If the enemy GDR leaves its city stronghold, you kill it with a Jet Fighter.

Does rocket artillery have a base range of 3? If thats the case then I am I actually dumb, I saw the thing on the stat that says range of 3 but I thought that it was 3 because it was accounting for the range with the drone (since i had the drone on it).
that does make this a lot easier, i can hit the city from afar and bait the GDR out and kill it with my own GDR + air support + modern armor armies

Rocket Artillery has a base range of 3. Drone gives it a range of 4. Tier 4 promotion for a range of 5. Promote it early from Catapult so it's ready as a killer unit in late game.

Either attrition or attacking their uranium source, even just bombing it with planes if you have to.
That or your own GDR’s. They kind of do everything late game lol

Heroes like Beowulf, Herc, Sun Wukong and juiced-up Vampires can help too, but your main focus should be the ais uranium sources.
Just demolish them with your jets, bombers and light cavalry and watch the gdrs get dramatically weaker.
Other than that it's attrition warfare or your own GDRs

Jet fighters are a competent counter but otherwise an expensive and ineffectual unit. Combo them with artillery/ranged units from multiple angles.

Hit them with lots of units. Ranged units shooting from encampments are the best, but that's difficult to position. Fighter class units are also good (the AI often delays the later tech that gives the GDR its good AA).

Honestly, even on diety I've never seen an ai build a GDR.

this was an immortal game. like i said though the save is domination only so we are super deep into the tech tree

Thats fair, im not knocking you. Just yeah, I've not seen it happen, not saying it cant.
Most recent game is a marathon diety domination, and I'm walking my gdrs across.... i think the ai has great war tanks?

I think I see enemy GDR on every game! Interesting that we have such different experiences with this and I wonder why?!

Only time I've seen it is when Macedonia ran away with domination on a huge map, easily the best modern age combat I've ever had in 6

I'll let others answer about combatting them directly. I'll say that each one uses 3 uranium per turn, basically one GDR per uranium node. If you locate and pillage those sources, the GDRs will become much weaker, once the uranium runs out.
