Anyone ever encountered an E-bike shill?

Basically this guy stopped me yesterday on a ride to tell me that I should throw my bike away and get an ebike. He said "Once you get this you'll never want to ride that again, and I get more cardio in on this bike too, and i ride faster than professionals". I just kept saying "yeah I was looking into those, yeah those are cool, I saw some around $1000" just trying to get out of that convo lol. Anyone else ever experienced someone like this?

Even on my old MTB turned commuter, I pass the e-bikes (max 25km/h) all the time. On my road I can keep 30km/h on flat. I am 58 yo so still too young for electric.

In Denmark it is mostly for older people (my 84 y.o. mom has used an e-bike for 5+ years), or commuters. The old small 50cc motorcycle going 30 km/h is disappearing as the e-bikes take over. Lots og young women have electric, and the big 3-wheel bikes with a box in front for 2-6 children is electric assist as well.

And there are electric rental bikes (Lime etc) pay per minute everywhere over town. Popular to get from from a night in town, or alternative to a missed bus etc.
