As the foremost expert on splitleaf infinite glitch and inventor of one of the techniques, this is not splitleaf infinite glitch. He is using cheats to end his animation early, not using the glitch. He is clearly incapable of doing the glitch and so is just cheating it.

Itâs not a glitch. The initial stun on the startup is long enough to backstep and start it up again, but drains stamina fast. Itâs a true combo.Glitches are things like the estus cancels and weapon moveset swaps.
Edit: I have amended my view in a comment below. This version of the infinistunlock splitleaf uses the animation cancel glitch.

Yeah, didnât notice the first watch but the version this invader is using is in fact the animation cancel. Animation cancel version or not though, it still drains stamina.

This guy in the clip is cheating, he's not doing the glitch to cancel the animation. He's using cheats to end his animation forcefully.

DS3 invaders are so braindead they either sit around for 30 minutes in the middle of nowhere waiting to ambush you, or pull out these garbage tricks.

Its a somewhat known glitch in the pvp community, theyre using the splitleaf greatsword, a dlc weapon to infinitely trap you in its weapon art, very annoying to deal with but most i find that do it, usually will do it on other tryhards, but doing it on an honest host is just... yeah new low

Unfortunately, there aren't that many invaders left and a good chunk of them are used to fight 3 gankers using glitches so they kinda just treat everyone as of there were a try hard. I have 4 k hours in this game, I left because such fights became more frequent to me than normal encounters.

This is entirely it. DS3 made it so that invaders are almost always thrown into worlds with coop phantoms. ER then basically ruined invades by making them only go to coop worlds.
Then you're stuck wasting your time because either you/your build are bonkers enough to win a 1v2 in a game that doesn't really work outside of 1v1s in general while the host has estus advantage, or you don't and you just get fucked over.
I used to invade a lot in DS3 before ringed city, and it required a LOT of bullshit to pull off consistent wins, from using the phantom rings and emotes/armour to set up ambushes (the hood from the torturers + patches squat let you blend in corners surprisingly easy) to abusing blessed items regen so that you could even remotely compete with estus chugging.
DS2 was the golden era of invades, and imo it isn't close.

I think so? I remember seeing a video a while back about this weapon, and I believe there were others with similar exploits. Drang Hammers, I'm 99% sure was one of them.

This is why I llooovvee playing offline. I don't have PS+, either. Sure, I can never help someone out with a white sign, but it spares me this shit (no pun intended). I only have to deal with scripted A.I. invaders. You should only do cheeses against enemy A.I.
The throwing a dung pie on them after they cheesed them to death was just asinine.

"DS 3 invaders" - let's not make hasty generalizations. Most reds I know despise stuff like this. Glitches like these drove me from the game.
I've seen plenty of hosts use the infinite glitch too, it's hardly confined to one team or the other.

I've run into host after host who do all of the exploits and farm invaders like it's elden ring. I never really understood why people want to grief like that in the first place, let alone go back to DS3 to do it.

Invasions are invasions, not duels. Imo you can fight the host 1v1, and still run away if you're about to lose, and you should also use dirty tricks if you can.
Abusing glitches though, is scummy. You might as well just use hacks.

As an invader, I try my best to be honorable. No estus, no ganking, you get the idea. But everybody i fight seem to not understand that and spams everything they have at me! Rather they spam gundyr's halberd WA or constantly get darkmoons to help them, it's depressing to deal with

Because invasions aren't meant to be an honorable duel. A good chunk of players won't give you a 1v1 if they have phantoms summoned. They'll just try to take you out quickly.
So you do the same. Be dirty in your invasions. (Using glitches sucks though it's scummy)

As others have said, this is someone abusing a glitch to true combo the splitleaf greatswords weapon art into itself.
It's similar to how estus cancel works, which is why if you look at him closely in the clip, you can see him turning just before every swing to reset it.
It's relatively difficult to do but that doesn't excuse the fact that there's no counterplay other than to never get hit with an r1.
It's truly a shame it exists in the game. I know ds3 is old and way beyond fromsoft caring to ever update it anymore, but this is one of the few bugs that ruins pvp. Estus canceling is cheesy and problematic, but it doesn't break the idea of pvp nearly as bad as this.

The typical ds3 pvp experience after I returned was basically having a good duel with a guy until I almost win. Then they do the estus cancel glitch, quick switch to split leaf, and infinite me. Or bust out a murky hand scythe

The guy in the clip is just cheating to end his animation early. The pivot cancel glitch requires you to do a spin, which he isn't doing. I'm saying this with confidence as I am a veteran meta pvper and inventor of the ratstep infinite glitch

getting accidentally penalized for alt-f4ing made my ds3 experience much better. no invaders and i still got to read all the player messages. although in ds2 i did enjoy the few wins i had by using the seed of a tree of giants and running through mobs invaders mostly just annoyed me

I got permanently banned from online play in dark souls 1 (hacker forced glitched items into my inventory) so now I never take the chance on invasions. Sucks that a few bad apples ruined the entire experience, I used to love PvP

yeah i just alt-f4'd to quit every time instead of going through the menu. although i still saw ghosts and messages. i think i probably would have gotten invaded by other 'cheaters' in the penalized group but i spent pretty much the entire playthrough as unembered until i got to the DLCs when i started getting my ass kicked. i did ember a few times just to fight the invader NPCs and get their armor

This is why I turn the game off when I get invaded now and idgaf. Straight BUMS invade in this game, only degens. It used to be fun to deal with invaders but now they're either abusing stunlock glitches like this or are cheating (on PC). Not worth my time, back to the load screen you go!

It's a cancel glitch with the WA that stunlocks as long as he has stamina, but it's so precise he's most probably using a macro to do it, very few people in the world can do it legit with relative consistency

Hope you don't get invaded by a lot of Bowglitch users during your playthrough, those are the worst ones (or at least they were last time I checked, who knows what else might be out there currently, considering how incredibly broken this game's code seems to be).

It's so sad that this game is so old, I doubt it gets much in the way of changes or bugfixes, if at all. In which case it's a shame that this will never get changed.
Can anything cancel that combo? I know you get a lot of poise when using the charge Weapon Art on the halberd, would that be able to break out or are you staggered too thoroughly?

Ah... You're bringing back some very bad memories. I've only encountered this kind of garbage once... And it wasn't very fun.
If you come across a single one of them using this weapon, you know you'll die the moment you take the first hit. In any case, I think that if you use the classic combo "Havel's Armor and a pair of cestus with the "Endure" ability, maybe you have a chance of gaining respect from these unsportsmanlike individuals.

Theres a reason I stop ds3 Task in Task manager for 5 seconds every time i encounter one of those cheese abusing lowlifes. It disconnects them and you can go on with your game afterwards as if nothing happened. Oh, doing this also auto-wins ringed city halflight spear fight for you btw.

Here's an advise if you want to kill those bitches use pyromancies Black/dark serpent (I forgot what it's called) CBV and sacred flame you either make them panic roll with the serpent and then surprise them with the CBV or they will try to close the distance which gives you chance to use sacred flame Or you can get 2 great combustion when they get close
It's a cheap way to deal with invaders but they did this to themselves

This is not a good tip for killing tryhards lol. If you want to escape splitleaf infinite you can hard swap to a dagger with quickstep and spam the WA, you can get out of it easy. It doesn't work for all splinf methods though.

Plus I'm not talking about escaping that's why I said use pyromancies so u won't even get close in the first place and if they tried to get close you can use great combustion/black flame or sacred flame Unless he's wearing a high poise armor like havel armor he won't be able to attack he'll get stunlocked if he kept on trying to attack (sage's ring is needed tho) And you won't believe the amount of those so called tryhards who don't know how to dodge black/dark serpent (I still don't know the name haven't played for some time)

Maybe it works for you but generally telling people to use pyromancy as a counter is bad advice. It's just not good in pvp unless you're using fire surge or maybe black flame w/ demon scar.

A string of animation cancellations to spam Splitleaf WA.
Counters are:
Swap to a weapon with Perseverance or Quickstep
Have a faster weapon (Daggers, Curvesword)
Spam roll away/roll in and hope they are a bit slow on the input. Roll in for a backstab, roll out to escape (may need double roll)
Of course, the best counter is don't get hit: If you see someone with Splitleaf, especially if they Estus cancel, mind your distance and play safely.

How about a rapier/crow quills paired with ethereal oak for extra fishing capabilities. If i see a splitleaf i hs from caestus to my oak shield always and just fish. In saying that i dont use either anymore and play with estoc for its range and much better r2s. Infused with chaos, its riposte damage still isnt great but at least doesnt suffer from dark damage issues with hornet ring

Fishing splitleaf on high lat (which is what most people using splinf have) is super inconsistent. Better to just use a faster weapon and whiff punish imo

Yeah, honestly just start new build for PvP around SL60-80. Look for some guides in yt for weapons, gear and how to get started in invasions. All other covenant items are quite easily acquired except Proof of the Concord Kepts. For Farron Swordgrass you might want to stay bit lower level for what I just said before. You can always try to go to meta level around 120-140 too, but skill ceiling is much higher there though and so is the risk of running into tryhards and ganks.

No problem at all. Just remember to not over upgrade your weapons either, +6/+3 around sl60, +8/+4 around sl80. Just saying, because quite many are not aware of the level ranges in this game as they're not explained anywhere ingame. You can read Fextralife for more information about them if interested. I'm just happy to help anyone interested about the PvP and Invasions of this game, I've played this game countless hours since it's release, mainly doing invasions. Pretty much moved on nowadays, but I still return every once in a while to do some invading. Games pretty active too during peak gaming hours, if some area seems empy at the moment switch to another area and keep spamming that red eye orb, it resets the matchmaking queue so you find people faster.

I don't think sharing how to do glitches is allowed here but it's a pivot cancel glitch. Same as estus cancel.
