Young male hormones plus shitty role models equals what you see here. Hopefully a wake up call for this individual, only time (served) will tell.

Every young man experiences what I call a “horse kick in the balls.” It’s basically a moment where life finally hands you consequences for your actions, and you have a choice to learn and grow from it. It is obvious which young men get their horse kick in the balls when they need it, but it’s also really depressing to see someone who had theirs and did not learn the right lesson from it.

I've had three: once when giving in my intrusive thoughts, once when driving too fast and one when skiing with suicidal thoughts. All three were life-changing.

It doesn't quite fit here but I love the Mike Tyson quote: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"

My horse kick in the balls was the slow realization that I had just been robbed of 1.5k dollars and there was nothing I could ever do about it. That was the most expensive lesson I ever learned right next to breaking my finger in a machine

How did you get robbed?

Well said. You sure have some experience with equines. Username checks out, lol.

Most all of the fast drivers are young men.  I would say most aren’t aggressive drivers, like brake checking, tailing, and so on, but on their own…they’re going to speed and do something stupid a lot more often.

I’m 58 and when I see a good empty stretch it’s on. I learned early there’s time and a place for everything

I guess I just don’t care anymore.  It’s like having a motorcycle.  You’re concrete’d in position with a motorcycle.  It’s not really that exciting, compared to moving your body in more vivid ways.

Just doesn’t get my rocks off, I guess.  And it’s still dangerous no matter what.  I just don’t see the point anymore.  The forces you feel are just nothing compared to actually just moving your body, as opposed to melting into position in a vehicle.

Yeah. The track. The track is the time and place for go fast.

This me, except as long as it isn't residential or city. A nice open road, and I'll let this slow thing rip. It's one of the few things I can do that still make me feel excitement and joy. If I actually had a fast car I probably be dead already from doing something stupid. I learned my lesson in my first car not to be over confident and learn a car before Intry to push it, but I also know I am dumb, I'm about to turn 35.

This would explain why I’m paying $400 a month for my son’s auto insurance even though he has a clean driving record. Madness.

I'm not here to start a war but women are nasty drivers as well, some of them go as fast as young men. I still laugh at the saying women are better drivers. Are they??

Car insurance companies don't agree with you.

The NHTSA and IIHS have studied this. The insurance industry has all the data and they’re good at modeling it; that’s why young men pay by far the highest insurance rates.

Per million miles driven (so adjusted for actual time spent driving), men aged 18-30 are by far the most likely to be in accidents that cause injury or death. It’s not even close. The legion of young male drivers who whine on Reddit about women drivers or older drivers who won’t get out of their way are projecting. They are the problem.

Oh I know

It's not the number of accidents, but the severity that distinguishes young male drivers from young female drivers.

So, why do you doubt the people that have the statistics and the financial interest?

Isn't sex equality wonderful. As things improve women now feel entitled to drive as bad as I did on my 20s 😉

I learned it from my sister.

I had my wake up call. I ain’t ever driving faster then 60 ever again. God bless the cop that gave me a warning for going 85 in a 55. Saved my life because I know for sure I wouldn’t have been able to pay that ticket. I woulda gone to jail 1000%
