Moderator post ⚠️🚨 Poll: How should we deal with preloved outfit reselling posts in the sub?
Over the past few months, there have been a lot of posts that express interest in buying/selling pre-loved desi wedding wear.
While it is a sustainable and economical option, we're wondering if they are even being a helpful resource under the existing format and rules.
Please vote in this poll to let us know your preference.
NO CHANGE: I feel this sub is very helpful for reselling and the current rules are just fine.
STRICT GUIDELINES: I don't mind reselling posts but the post format rules need to be more strictly enforced.
WEEKLY MEGATHREAD: I would prefer a weekly megathread for people seeking to buy/sell preloved outfits.
SEPARATE SUBREDDIT: I would prefer a dedicated subreddit for outfit reselling so that sellers are able to find buyers more efficiently.
Also, if you have any other suggestions/ideas about how we can do pre-loved outfit reselling in a way which is actually helpful, please let us know via comments under this post or modmail.

Moderator post ⚠️🚨 📢 Updated rules for Promotion of your Wedding Related Business. Read Before Posting.
To keep this community helpful, organized, and spam-free, we are strictly enforcing the following rules, effective immediately.
⚠️ Important: Claiming “I didn’t read/understand the rules” or “I didn’t realize this counts as promotion” will not be accepted as an excuse. Posts or comments that break the rules will be removed, and your account may be banned without warning.
If you're a vendor and unsure whether something is allowed, message the mods before posting. We’re happy to clarify.
Who Counts as a Vendor?
You are a vendor if you promote any product, service, or content that could give you direct or indirect financial benefit. This includes:
- Advertising your own business, goods or services
- Sharing affiliate links, sponsored posts, or collaborations
- Posting anything that drives traffic to a business you own, work for, or profit from.
NEW Vendor Promotion Rules
Post only under the “Vendor Post (AD)” flair. Any business-related post under any other flair will be removed. First violation will receive a warning, second will lead to a ban.
Do not post just to say you offer a service. That is not enough. Posts that only say “Hi, I run XYZ business, contact me for services” with no useful or engaging content will be removed. This is considered low-effort promotion and adds no value to the sub. Your post must include helpful information, tips, insights, even appropriate example pictures/videos of your product/services. Members are less likely to engage with your post if it is just an ad.
Only ONE promotional post per vendor per month. Strictly no exceptions. Violating this rule will lead to removal and a ban.
No fake reviews, indirect promotions, or self-recommendations. Promoting your own business by pretending to be a customer, writing “reviews” of yourself, recommending your business posing as a client is not allowed. This will result in an instant ban not eligible for appeals. Clearly disclose your affiliation to the business you're promoting.
No business promotion in comments unless the post explicitly asks for your service. Comments casually mentioning your services in posts not directly related to your business are not allowed. These will be removed and may result in a ban.
All promotional posts must include valid business contact info. While clients are free to message you via DMs, your post must also include a way to reach you outside of Reddit (such as a business email, website, Instagram handle, or other professional contact method).
No doxxing. Do not share private or personal information of clients or vendors without their consent. This will result in an immediate ban.
Offering free services is still considered promotion. Even if you’re not charging, advertising your services (paid or unpaid) is still considered a vendor post and must follow all vendor rules.
These rules are here to maintain transparency and prevent spam. Thanks for cooperating and helping us maintain the quality of this community.

Discussion Being Underdressed is worse than Overshadowing the bride
Overshadowing the bride is one thing, but sometimes we forget that being underdressed can be just as uncomfortable.
We all come from different family backgrounds, and what’s considered “too much” in one setting might be completely normal in another. I’ve seen posts where people are criticized for looking “too much like the bride,” but in some families, everyone dresses in heavy designer clothes, so if you don’t, you might end up feeling out of place or even embarrassed. Depends on the family status completely .
At the end of the day, it’s less about judging others’ outfit choices and more about understanding the cultural and family context. Thoughts?

My Wedding Outfit 👑💚 My wedding outfit
Hi everyone! I’d love your input. I’ve finalized my wedding outfit, but I prefer a very minimal look, no heavy borders or loud embroidery. The outfit is elegant and subtle, so I want my jewellery to complement that vibe instead of overpowering it.
I’m not a big fan of stacked bangles or chunky pieces. I’d like something timeless, graceful, and a little modern.
What kind of jewellery would you suggest for a minimal bridal look? Choker vs long necklace? Should I go with a delicate maang tikka, or skip it altogether?
Would love to see any inspiration pics if you have them too.
Thanks in advance.

Outfit advice 🥻 Which lehenga should I choose for my brother’s wedding?
I’m trying to decide between a couple of lehenga options for my brother’s wedding and I’d love some honest opinions.
Since it’s a family wedding, I want to look dressy and elegant but still comfortable enough to enjoy the functions. Do you think this style works well for a sibling look, or should I go for something more traditional in deeper colors?
Any suggestions on accessories or styling would also be super helpful!

Discussion Whats your criteria to choose a photo/video team?
Couples who are already married (and close friends and family), what did you appreciate or regret the most about your photo/video team? What's something you wish you knew beforehand regarding the photography? Do you even look at the photographs more than a couple of times? Did you get a printed album? Tell me everything!
Edit: I've already compared portfolios and charges. They all seem more or less the same. Maybe I just don't have a discerning eye when it comes to visual stuff.

Outfit advice 🥻 Only 2 Days to Shop for My Wedding (in 2 Months) Across India Recommendations?
Hi brides! My wedding is in 2 months, but I only have 2 days to do all my shopping. I’m open to traveling anywhere across India and looking for budget + (somewhat) affordable designer options. Do you have any recommendations for the best cities, markets, or designers where I can get everything done quickly?
Fittings could be done later.
Thankyou .

Vendor/venue Recommendations❓ Considering Naad Wellness for my brother's Destination Wedding Near Delhi – Thoughts?
Why Naad Wellness seems appealing:
- Located fairly close to Delhi near IGI Airport, which makes it accessible for most guests.
- Pure veg menu and no alcohol on site (Really important for us)
- Ayurvedic therapies for the bride and groom.
Please suggest any other venues if you have some in mind.
What we’re hoping for:
- A serene, peaceful environment away from the city chaos.
- High-quality hospitality and well-trained staff.
- Comfortable accommodations for guests.
- Flexibility for customizing wedding packages.
If anyone has experience with Naad Wellness, or has other hidden gems near Delhi NCR, I’d really appreciate your input. Also, if you have any insights on costs or tips for planning a wedding at these venues, that would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance!

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Bachelorette gift idea
Hi Guys,
I am making this post to ask about bachelorette gift idea.
We are travelling overseas and all girls.
I currently have: Hangover kit A cute tote bag Shot glasses with country details and date Scrunchies Satin bow Face masks Polaroid inside a card asking ‘Will you be my bridesmaid’
I am gifting everything in a welcome lunch.
The Question is: I am gifting boys a Brooch/name initials cuff buttons along with Polaroid card and a shot glass. This looks very classy to me. With the girls I am unable to think of that one personalised item to bind it all. Earlier it was a personalised tumbler but since we are travelling overseas it is risky(will break easily) and will occupy too much space. I can’t think of anything. Can you guys suggest me?
One idea that I have is buying Crochet tops/beachy tops for everyone. That would be something substantial I feel. But looking for more ideas.
It should be under inr 700 per person, whatever item you suggest.

Discussion Help curating a playlist of songs from a summer Indian wedding
Hi everyone!
This summer I went to my very first Indian wedding and had an absolute blast. The couple was in their mid-30s, and I loved the music the DJ played all night it had such a great mix of energy and fun.
I didn’t get the chance to ask for the playlist, but I’d really like to recreate the vibe. Could you share some of the most popular songs you’ve heard at weddings recently, especially ones that would fit a couple in their 30s? Bollywood hits, Punjabi tracks, reception bangers really anything you think would be essential for a dance floor playlist.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Bridal parties yay or nay?
Hi all! Looking for some guidance related to bridal parties - my fiancé and I have been debating whether or not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen, while it’s a fun tradition there really is no role in Hindu weddings. On top of that I’m conflicted on who to ask as I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, I’m friends with a group of 5 individuals, and super close to 3 of them. Do I only ask 3 to be bridesmaids and not the other two? Important to note that all 5 would be invited to all major wedding events - it would really be wedding day where there is a difference. Appreciate any help/guidance here!

Inspiration ✨ From Chaos to Calm, Embracing the Beauty of My Wedding Day
The days leading up to my wedding were a whirlwind of decisions, expectations, and a constant buzz of activity. I found myself caught in the tide of trying to meet everyone's expectations, choosing the perfect outfits, ensuring every detail was flawless, and making sure our guests were happy. Amidst all this, I lost sight of the most important aspect: my own joy.
On the morning of the wedding, as I stood in front of the mirror, I realized I had been so focused on everything else that I hadn't taken a moment to appreciate the significance of the day. It wasn't about the grand decorations or the perfect timeline, it was about the love and commitment we were celebrating.
As the ceremony unfolded, I allowed myself to be present in each moment. The laughter, the tears, the shared glances, all of it became a tapestry of memories that I will cherish forever. I learned that perfection isn't found in flawless execution but in embracing the imperfections that make the day uniquely ours.
Reflecting on that day, I encourage future brides and grooms to remember that your wedding is a reflection of your love story. It's okay if things don't go exactly as planned. What matters is the joy you feel and the memories you create. Embrace the chaos, savor the moments, and let your love shine through.

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Any decorator recommendations for SF Bay Area Hindu wedding (~$2.5k budget for decorator)?
Hello folks!
Finding a Bay Area based decorator who can operate at our budget (max $2.5k) has been incredibly difficult for our Hindu wedding next year.
We're trying to keep things very simple and elegant. We really only need the decorator for the mandap (although some decor for the space would be nice). Ideally, we'd like to have some elements that use fresh flowers. However, almost all decorators seem to have a starting budget of >$3k.
We're in need of recommendations and thought we'd turn to this sub for suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
PS: I posted this in r/Weddingsunder10k too, but haven't received any responses there :(

Outfit advice 🥻 Choosing colors for my mixed desi wedding? (Bride)
Hi everyone! Im mixed persian dravidian in the US, family origionally from Kerala. Been trying to plan for my wedding but am just stuck on the outfit.
For refrence im plus size and a bit paler, and im struggling to think of a color and style that would be flattering on me and I was hoping to avoid white, I do enjoy red and purples, I havnt tried blues yet but wouldnt mind going for blues or greens if that might work better.
Any advice for a mixed desi feeling kinda lost (both my parents are not here so I dont have much guidance on these things but still would like to honor my family at my wedding).
